     May 8 1923 - A new school will be built for the Elk-Union district. Bonds of $15,000 were voted for the new building. It will be of brick. School board members of the joint district are; 0. L. Frey, Everett Stowers and Sidney Symes.

     May 11 - Tom Mercer and Alverna Green are married at Marion, Ks.

     Lorana A. Weaver has passed away. She came to Chase County with her husband Henry following the Civil war and settled at Cedar point.

     May 22 - A son was born to Mr. & Mrs Roy Bastin of Matfield Green.

     May 29 - Lee K. Graham of Clements and Blanche R. Whitcraft of Wamego have been wed.

     Also Walter L. Blount of Peabody and Leona Potter of Saffordville.

     Jun 5 - Cottonwood Falls new water supply will soon be availabe according to Henry Giese, City Water Superindent.

     County pays many coyote bounties.

     Mrs Arthur Lawrence dies at her home west of the Falls.

     Dan Foxworthy has sold his farm on South Fork to Sidney Cahoone. The purchase price was $15,000 for 108 acres.

     A total of 20 graduates from the Common school of Chase County will receive diplomas this year making it one of the largest classes in the history of the county, according to Clint Baldwin, County Superintendent.

     Frank L. Grimwood of Saffordville and Alph J. Smith of Cedar point are united in marriage.

     Jun 19 - John Short has just bought the Willard Hamm filling station.

     Jun 22 - Tilford Bourland and Gladys Ballew were married by Judge T. G. Allen.

     Jun 29 - Parents of new babies are; Mr. & Mrs Charles Spence of Clements, a girl; Mr. & Mrs Guy Crook of Saffordville, a boy, Robert Guy; and Mr. & Mrs Roy Beedle, a girl.

     Jul 10 -The new elevator at Cottonwood Falls is ready to receive wheat.

     Jul 13 - Matfield Green should have a railroad into town soon if all works out.

     Jul 24 - The death of Mrs Jont. Wood of Herington was received here. She was an early settler of Chase Co. in 1865, moving to Elmdale.

     Mrs Wm. ImMasche of Saffordville passed away. She was 42 years of age and was raised at Saffordville. Her maiden name was Margaret Lyle.

     Jul 27 - All of Chase Co. will be at Matfield Green to help them celebrate the coming of the first train on the new Santa Fe railroad.

     Jul 31 - Mr. & Mrs C. 0. Barr of Diamond Springs are the parents of a boy, named James Francis.

     Smith Brothers are moving to a new location.

     Dave Wood has sold part of his land near Clements to Mrs Harshman of ElDorado.

     Aug 3 - There were were probably 3,000 people at Matfield Green to celebrate the coming of the railroad.

     Aug 17 - Mr. J. M. Bates has sold his home and park in the north part of this city to Mr. & Mrs H. R. Shupe, of Pawnee, Ok.
