     Jun 13 1928 - A new auditorium and gym building has been voted on for Matfield Green. It is hoped it will be completed for the fall term.

     Chas. Simmons, Wm. Hubert, and B. M. Garth are the new directors of Strong City’s new rural high school.

     Jun 20 - Mrs A. J. Siegle of the city will have charge of a dormintory for those girls who live at a distance from Cottonwood Falls and who wants to attend high school. Mrs Siegle has the W. W. Sanders home, one of the largest in town and can hold 20 - 24 girls.

     Jun 27 - Stockholders of the Chase County National Bank have made the final settlement.

     Jul 11 - Mr. & Mrs Olin Jones of Matfield Green are the parents of a baby boy, born on the 4th of July.

     Jul 18 - John B. Bell dies suddenly. He leaves a wife Mary Coe, and a daughter Mrs S. R. Blackburn.

     Aug 8 - Tom and Ed Hedrick, of Strong City are off to National Guard camp at Ft. Riley, Ks.

     J. W. Byram is building a commodious stone residence on the land known as the Mitchell place, north of the Cedar Point station.

     Aug 22 - A number of folks on Broadway got their first glimpse of the “bare leg” fad which seems to be the fashion among flappers. All the men folks sure seemed to be enjoying them.

     Aug 29 - The Hymer ball team was the winner of the teams of the Chase County league.

     Drp 5 - Strong City Rural High School opens with an enrollment of 47.

     Mr. & Mrs Tom Baker were taken to the county farm at Elmdale. Both are in feeble health.

     Sep 12 - Notice of a special election to build a rural high school at Cedar Point has been given.

     Oct 10 - Tom Mercer of this city wins the cow—calling contest at the Chase County Fair.

     Oct 10 - The following are the results of the stock judging contest at the Chase County Fair by the vocational boys and 4-H Club boys; Robert Fillmore, Gold Medal, Thomas McCabe, Silver Medal, and John Hollenbach, Bronze Medal.

     Oct 17 - Wm. Fillmore has sold all his cows and will not be operating the Fillmore Dairy. The Fillmore family has lived on the Clint Baldwin place for a number of years and will now be moving to the Alvin Stanbrough place which they have rented.

     Oct 24 - Saturday was a red-letter day for the Smith Brothers. It marked their 38th anniversary in business here.

     Mildred Green and Ralph Klamm were united in marriage.

     Nov 7 - Rock creek school has a weiner and marshmellow picnic. Miss Janet Mailen is the teacher.
