     1928 - 1929

     Nov 14 1928 - Geo. Miller is being honored as a Master Farmer of Kansas.

     Nov 21 - Jonas Potter, who lives east of Cottonwood Falls, died, which was a shock to his family and friends. He leaves a widow and three sons, William, John and Harry.

     Dec 5 - James J. Yeager of Bazaar is one of the 20 members of the K-State Agricultural College football squad.

     Dec 12 - Death of Dr. G. W. Bocook at the home of his son at Matfield Green.

     Dec 19 - 79 year old James O’Reilly died at his home in Strong City. Mr. O’Reilly was engaged in a mercantile store until advanced age and failing health made it necessary for him to retire. He came to Strong City in 1883.

     A new concrete floor is being put in at the Courthouse basement under the Clerk’s office for a vault to be installed soon.

     Dec 26 - A young prisioner escapes jail by picking the lock on Christmas night.

     Divorce ratio lower in Chae County with only 5 reported in 1927.

     Jan 2 1929 - Mrs Anna Adair, widow of Whit Adair and mother of Mrs W. Y. Morgan has died.

     Jan 23 - Chase County High School wins their first basketball game in the new gym.

     Jan 30 - The new Chase County High School building is dedicated.

     Thirteen pupils from Chase County rank in top one percent in the Every Pupil Scholarship Contest.

     Mr. E. B. Greene has kept the weather records at his farm near Bazaar for twenty years.

     Feb 6 - Mr. & Mrs Ralph Klamm start their own dairy in the Horace Wadsworth big dairy barn in the northwest part of this city.

     The marriage of one of the best known young couples of Bazaar occurred. That of Bertha Russell and Edward Baker.

     Mar 6 - Fred Howard and Mason Crocker have purchased the Rogler farm from the directors of the Chase County National Bank. It is two miles north of Matfield Green and consists of 1,035 acres.

     Apr 3 - Dr. Harry Wilcox is elected on the Progessive ticket for Mayor of this city.

     Apr 17 - Liquidation of the remaining assets of the Chase County National Bank will wind up affairs of the defunct bank.

     Infantry Co. to replace the 114th. Cavalry detachment. The nine cavalry horses, belonging to the detachment were shipped to Kansas City this week.

     Phoebe Cope Stone, eldest daughter of David and Ruth Cope, passed away. She was married to John Stone of Toledo in 1869.
