     4-24 l929 - W. B. Penny has been the Cottonwood Falls City Clerk for the past twelve years.

     May 8 - Mr Clint Baldwin will teach for the branch high school at Elk.

     May 15 - Chase County’s first talkie movie starting here next week.

     May 22 - Changing Cavalry barn at Swope Park into an Armory.

     May 29 - Mr. J. C. F. Kirk passes away. Two of his children live in Chase County, Mattie E. and Thomas Victor Kirk.

     N. M. Patton and Mrs Mary A. Park of Clements are wed. Also Clara Rettiger and Paul Bennett.

     Jun 5 - Harold “Bud” Blackshere of Cottonwood Falls kills himself. His body was found in his office hours after the tragedy. Ill health was the probable cause.

     Jun 12 - Mr Theodore Fritz who was widely known as a carpenter has died. He has built many houses in Strong City and other parts of the county.

     Jun 19 - Depositors of the Chase County National Bank of this city, are drawing the last dividend and the bank is paying 100 cents on the dollar.

     The “Womanless Divorce” the sequel of the play the “Womenless Wedding” given here two years ago came off with record attendance.

     Jun 26 - Beulah Fagg of Bazaar, and Joe Wagoner, of Matfield Green were married. The newlyweds expect to make their home in the Matfield vicinity

     Following are the names of a few teacher for the 1929 - 30 term: Union; Edith Mailen; Bazaar: Ruby Bellman, Catherine Eastman; Prairie Hill, Murial Dean; Norton, Doris Beilman; and Buck Creek, Janet Mailen.

     Jul 3 - A baby daughter was born to Mr. & Mrs Frank Frey of Elk. Dr. Titus made the delivery.

     Miss Rose Rettiger of Strong City and Cecil Kuhl form a partnership of a drug store. Miss Rettiger will be in charge.

     Jul 10 - A stray bullet hits Robert Fillmore 17 year old son of Mr. & Mrs Wm. Fillmore who lives on the Stanbrough farm southeast of this city. None of the Fillmore family knows where the bullet came from. Probably a hunter on the creek.

     Cottonwood Valley is flooded. All passenger trains detoured.

     The County Commissioners allow County Engineer Jas. R. McKenzie, an assistant engineer a salary of $150.00 per month.

     Jul 17 - County has slight population gain of 68, making the total this year at 6,366.

     Jul 24 - Chautauqua fails to pay out. It lacked about $487 of paying out.

     Another of the “Boys in Blue” has gone to his reward. Arnold Brandley, one of the early settlers of Chase County has died.
