     Jul 31 1929 - Twin City Theatre closes during hot weather.

     Twyla Fink who was born at the Fink farm near Hymer has married Fredick 0. Cowan, in early April.

     Aug 7 - Twenty-two men, members of Headquarters Co. First Battalion 137th. Infantry, with their commanding officers, First Lieutenant, Irving Myers and Second Lieutenant, John L. McClellan, will leave for Camp Whiteside, at Fort Riley, where they will attend camp for two weeks.

     Rufus S. Kirk has been appointed Executor of the J.C.F. Kirk Estate.

     Aug 21 - Chase County starts celebration for road construction completion.

     The Chase County Teachers Institute opened with an enrollment of sixty teachers present. County Superintendant Carl Park is very anxious that every teacher in the county attend.

     Aug 28 - Tom Mercer, of this city is stepping high, for he ia a grandfather. Mr. & Mrs Will E. Mercer of Homestead have a fine baby boy.

     Aug 28 - The Chase Co. Fair Assoc. is having a new grandstand constructed at Swope Park. Karl Anderson has the contract to build. It will be big enough to seat about 800 to 1,000, and have a shingle roof.

     New certificates are issued to present teachers were second grades to Miss Bessie Mercer of Homestead, and Miss Verla Barker of Matfield Green.

     Sep 4 - Fifty-Five students are enrolled in the Strong Township High School; 130 in Chase County Community; 33, Cedar Point; 51, Toledo; 31 in Matfield Green; and 56 in Elmdale.

     Sep 11 - Mr. & Mrs Julius Frey celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at their home in Elmdale.

     Both the home and large garage building of Dick North of Matfield Green were entirely destroyed by fire.

     Sheriff 0. E. Burton was appointed county truancy officer.

     Oct 2 - There are four food stands for the visitors at the Chase Co. Fair. They are operated by Women ‘s church organizations of the county.

     David Mercer wins third place in the open horse relay at the Chase Co. Fair.

     Oct 9 - Terrapin races, more than one hundred in fact were entered at the Chase County Fair. Winners were; Don Arnold of this city, Prize of $25.00 for second place; Carl Barr of Diamond Springs, $15.00 prize for third place.

     Oct 9 - List of premiums won at Chase Co. Fair; Draft Mares or Geldings; 1st. Keith Stout, Horses colt foaled since Jan. 1st.; 1st. Tom Mercer, 2nd. Will Mercer, Boys & Girls Chicken Club; White Leghorns; 1st Elaine Selves, Childs Fancy Dress; 1st Mrs B. B. Rufener, SC Rhode Island Reds; 1st Robert Kirk
