     Jan 8 1930 - Joab Mulvane, owner of Mulvane Ranch on Diamond creek s dead. He was 92 years old. This ranch has been managed by John Gibb most of the time.

     Jan 15 - Henry Rogler has been solicited as a candidate for the Republican candidate for Governor against Governor Clyde Reed.

     The Toledo school house district #9 north of Saffordville was completely destroyed by fire. It was a two room school and taught by Walter 0. Buffington and Miss Neva North, with 25 pupils. The school was one of the few standard schools of this county.

     The wedding of Miss Blanche LaPlant of Bazaar and Roger R. John of Madison.

     The four small children of Mrs Minnie Brumback of Strong City were sent to the orphans home at Atchison, Ks.

     Jan 22 - The marriage of Miss Harriet H. Weaver and Tedrow Starkey is held. Tedrow will continue to farm south of Elmdale.

     Jan 29 - Chris Kaufman of Rocky Glen is buying the restaurant building of Earl Harman as an investment. He owns several houses in town but this is his first purchase of a business building.

     Feb 5 - Jas. Sheridan was appointed County Assessor with an annual salary of $500 and Harry Hudson, courthouse janitor at a salary of $100 per annum at the County Commissioners meeting.

     Feb 12 - Nellie McMorris of Strong City gives a musical recital. Pupils performing were; Elmore Stout, Betty Lou Wiebrecht, Agnes Treimer and Quenne Miller to name a few.

     Feb 19 - Mr. & Mrs Arthur Crockers home at Bazaar was destroyed by fire. Mr. & Mrs Roy Beedle and children occupied the home at the time. The 10 room house was built in 1911.

     The Carl Wyatt family has moved from the C. P. North farm at Bazaar to Clements where Carl will farm the Pickard place.

     Feb 26 - The State of Kansas finds itself in the worst tax muddle in its history.

     Mrs Carrie Howard will be house-mother at the Alpha Kappa Psi house in Lawrence, Ks.

     Mar 5 - The Toledo school district is planning a new school house, to take the place of their school building that was destroyed by fire last year.

     Fred Wagoner is to open a garage and filling station at Matfield Green when the building is finished.

     Mar 12 - The picture of several of Chase County’s well known cattlemen appeared in the last issue of the Kansas Stockman, E. G. & Arthur Crocker, of Matfield Green; Carl Palmer, of Strong City; and John McLinden, of Cedar Point.

     The grain elevator at Saffordville was completely destroyed by fire. Wm. Deitrich, was the owner of the elevator and has ran it for the past 13 years.
