     Mar 12 1930 - Mr. & Mrs Fred Fans of Elmdale, are going to run a tourist camp and filling station this summer on the farm of Mrs Adie Crawford, west of Clements.

     Mar 19 - The Ewers Ranch near Hymer which is one of the largest ranches in the county was sold to some Emporia men. It was formerly owned by the late Phil Whitney.

     Banks put service charge in force on March 1st.

     Apr 9 - Chase County High School beats Marion in a dual track meet.

     Cottonwood Valley farmers want the old mill dam at this city elimated.

     Apr 16 - The sudden death of Christian Kaufman of the Rocky Glen Vicinity. He was 84 and leaves his wife and five children.

     Apr 23 - Miss Eliza Kaufman was appointed Administratrix of the Chris Kaufman estate.

     Apr 30 - Mr. & Mrs Geo. Whitcomb, of Cedar Creek, are the parents of twin sons.

     A baby daughter was born to Mr. & Mrs Fred Odle, of Clements and also a baby girl to Mr. & Mrs Wm. James of this city.

     May 7 - County has 88 high school seniors in the seven different high schools of the whole county.

     At a meeting of the Directors of the Chase County Fair Assn. it was decided to put on a flower exhibit at the Fair this fall.

     May 14 - Two Chase County men kill themselves on same day. Ralph Talkington of Matfield Green in the morning and W. S. Tipton, of Cedar Point in the afternoon.

     Wm. Daub passed away at his home west of this city. He married Anna Stubenhofer and they had eleven children.

     May 21 - The dispersion sale of the dairy herd on the Clover Cliff Ranch was held with a total of 45 cows sold. Col. John McLinden was the auctioneer.

     Ther Garman Variety Store in this city, with Roy Park of Elmdale, in charge has big opening day.

     May 28 - Matfield Green organized a Community Church with Rev. Oliver Cook as pastor.

     The grocery store of Bob Frew was closed last week.

     Jun 4 - The marriage of Esther Rettiger and Harry O’Reilly of Strong City was held in the St. Anthony Church of Strong City.

     Miss Marjorie Stauffer has joined the Leader staff.

     The six sons of Mrs Adeline Wilson are pallbearers at her funeral.

     Jun 18 - Miss Virgiline Stout and Mr. James P. Long are wed.

     An electric traffic light has been erected at the intersection of Broadway and Main Street and will be tried out for the next 30 days.

     The Andy Torrants of Thurman have a new baby girl, named Laura Jean. This is their fourth girl.
