     Feb 4 1931 - The old building that was used as the Homestead postoffice is torn down.

     Feb 11 - Cedar Point is to have a new garage which is now being built by Wm. Foushee.

     There are at least two Chase County motorists who have their motor cars equipped with radio receiving sets which is coming into favor in many parts of the country.

     Feb 18 - Just fifty years ago, Probate T. G. Allen and Mrs Allen were married in this city, in the courthouse to be sure.

     Workmen have been busy laying a concrete floor in the west part of the basement in the courthouse. The east side was laid several years ago.

     250-300 men gathered on the H. A. Hazel pasture southeast of Elmdale for a coyote round-up and five are bagged.

     Feb 25 - Free tin cups to each customer at Remy’s Tin Shop on Saturday only.

     Mar 4 - Jim Bell, who bought the Harder farm west of Prairie Grove cemetery at the sheriffs’ partition sale a short time ago, has sold it to James Glanville.

     Mr. Martin Deering and Miss Blanche L. Holcomb, of Matfield Green are wed in the courthouse in this city.

     Mar 11 - L. 0. Talkington died at his home in this city. He has been active in farming and the livestock business all his life.

     County prisioners are kept at work by Sheriff Arthur L. Deering. They have cleaned and painted the jail, put up partitions in the basement and will be trimming the courthouse trees.

     Apr 1 - Knute Rockne, famous Notre Dame football coach and 7 other people are killed in an airplane crash southwest of Bazaar in a pasture.

     Michael Gamer died at the home of his daughter, Mrs Oscar Daub, west of Strong City.

     C. M. Husted, Cottonwood Falls, a new photograper made a scoop in the matter of photos of the wrecked airplane in the S. H. Baker pasture near Bazaar.

     Apr 8 - There is much discussion of a memorial being built honoring Knute Rockne, who with seven others lost their lives.

     Winners in the County spelling contest are: Class A; Edith Caress of Matfield Green and in Class B; Billy Becker of Strong City.

     Apr 15 - Some of the teachers hired for the next school term are; Vernon, Minnie Norton; Buck Creek, Opal Noel; French Creek, Beulah Mauderly; Daub, Helen Layport; and Prairie Grove, Velma Byram.

     The Rockne airplane crash cost insurance company $200,000.00.

     Apr 22 - Mr. Henry Wiebrecht, who has retired after 51 years and ten months as Santa Fe engineer.
