     1932 - 1933

     Nov 19 1932 - The Exchange National Bank, of this city, has installed a tear gas gun in the bank as precautionary measure against bank robbers.

     Nov 23 - The yearling feeders of Henry Rogler’s win third place at the American Royal in Kansas City.

     Thanksgiving turkey dinner 30 cents with all the trimmings at Broughton's Cafe in Cottonwood Falls.

     Nov 30 - Craig Drummond, only son of Mrs Helen Drummond, of this city, took his life at the Drummond home in the northwest part of this city.

     Dec 7 - The little three month-old daughters of Mr. & Mrs Floyd Watchous of this city have died.

     Dec 14 - Death of Mrs Theresa L. Breese. She was one of the oldest residents of Cottonwood Falls. Married Sidney A. Breese in 1876.

     Victor Bocook is the new County Clerk elect of Chase County. He will take office in Jan.

     Dec 28 - The Chase County Community High School first team loses season opener to Strong City.

     It is likely that a new feature for Camp Wood would be added for the coming season - riding horses.

     Jan 4 1933 - John Mitchell, postmaster of Bazaar for 17 years, was instantly killed by a north bound freight train at the crossing just north of the depot.

     Jan. 9 - last day for tax paying without penalty according to County Treasurer, Mrs Flora Arnold.

     Jan 11 - W. P. Rettiger, is Chase County’s new Commissioner from the Second District.

     County Commissioners appointed Levi Jones as official well plugger of Chase County for 1933.

     A carload of Red Cross flour which the county received is being stored in the south end of the County Engineer’s office in the courthouse.

     Jan 18 - C. A. Blackburn, of Bazaar, was appointed to act temporarily as Bazaar’ s postmaster.

     Jan 25 - The large farm home of Wm. Mercer, of Homestead was completely destroyed by fire. Mr. Mercer built the house about 16 years ago.

     Feb 1 - A wedding of much interest here was that of Mr. Frank Gaddie, Jr. of Bazaar and Miss Mina Lambell, of Florence. The young couple were married at Newton. Frank is engaged in farming and the livestock business with his father at Bazaar.

     Mr. & Mrs Si Fisher, of Clements have a new baby boy, named James Edward.

     Feb 8 - Gov. Alf M. Landon cut auto licenses by 50 percent.
