May 9 1934 - Death of Donald P. Lewis of SaffordVille, who has resided in this county for the past 68 years.
May 16 - The opening of the June term of the Chase Co. District Court will
have forty-four cases.
May 23 - Camp Wood opens with fifty-one boys enrolled.
Jun 6 - Gerald Remy, only son of Mr. & Mrs Charles Remy, of this city, and
Miss Pauline Vaughan, of Lamed, were married.
Jun 13 - Mrs J. H. Mercer, has passed away.
The Exchange National Bank of Cottonwood Falls installs a bandit barrier.
Jul 11 - Big rain here, a crop saver.
Roy Moore is the new marshal of Cottonwood Falls. Mr. Moore takes the
place of John Peek.
Jul 18 - It was 114 degrees in the shade today.
The directors and stockholders of the Chase Co. National Bank sell the building to Cowley & Cowley. An inside stairway will be put in and it will be rented for offices.
Jul 25 - Mrs Franklin P. Miser died at her home near Hymer.
Aug 8 - Mrs Arthur T. Crocker, formerly Daisy Brandley, of Matfield Green, dies at her home in Manhattan after a short illness.
Also J. W. Cope near Clements passes away.
Aug 15 - Local thermometers hit 122 degree mark and the local ice plant is kept busy.
The Grace Lutheran Church will celebrate its 50th anniversary soon.
Aug 22 - Milk prices go higher.
Dr. F. H. Bryant dies. He was here 37 years and was an osteopath.
Aug 29 - Carl Ballweg, young attorney from Emporia, locates in this city.
Another dividend to Matfield Green depositors from the Matfield Green
Bank which closed three years ago.
Many of the maple trees on the courtyard have begun to die due to the
dry weather. They will be watered by Harry Hudson, courthouse caretaker.
Sep 5 - Good rain for part of the county.
Chase Co. Community High School enrollment shows a good increase.
Trench silos are increasing rapidly in Chase Co.
Sep 12 - A building extension to Jim Bell Clothing Store to make additional
floor space.
Sep 19 - Chase Co. will vote on county lake project on the 6th of Nov.
The pet parade will be a new feature at the Chase County Fair this year.
Oct 3 - W. E. W. Bailey died at his home in this city.
