     Aug 28 1935 - Tax Levies are higher this year.


     Sep l8 - Electric lights are being planned for Swope Park for the use of night football & baseball.


     Sep 25 - A strange disease has been killing cattle in Chase County - 12 head at Bazaar.


     Oct 16 - May establish nursery schools in Strong City and Cottonwood Falls.


     Students of the Chase County Community High School are organizing a pep club. Elva Gurney & Keith Zimmerman are the cheerleaders.


     Oct 23 - The Toledo Township Rural High School board received offical notification of the approval of their application for a 45 percent PWA government grant on their new high school building and bids will soon be taken.


     Oct 30 - Miss Mary E. Whitney, of Hymer, and Robert Palmer of Strong City, are united in marriage.


     Nov 6 - Miss Juanita F. Osborn, of this city, & Mrs. Sam E. Miser of Bazaar, are married at Emporia.


     Nov 13 - In a thrilling “last minutes rally" the Strong City football team snatched a 13 point lead away & added an extra point in the last thirty seconds to gain a 20 to 19 victory over a spent Chase County Community High School team.


     Nov 27 - Mrs F. Scharenberg died at the home of her son in Cedar Point.


     Dec 4 - Will Fillmore is erecting a new poultry house on the Buckbee farm southeast of this city.


     Dec 11 - Number of WPA workers slightly reduced


     Dec 18 - Mrs Myrtle Dull of Elmdale is heir to oil land.


     Jan 1 1936 - Mr. & Mrs Fred Gurney of Homestead celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.


     Jan 8 - Chase County’s newest school district in the southwest part of the county is called “Cozy Nook” and is district #27. It is composed of the old Mars Hill district #27 and the Lookout district #59. There are 12 pupils in the new district.


     Jan 15 - The death of Wm. Mercer, Sr. occurred suddenly at his home on the Mercer Ranch in the southwest part of this county. He was the son of Alfred W. Mercer & Elizabeth Springett, natives of England. In 1907 he married Miss Hannah Brock. They were the parents of five children.


     Jan 22 - Early resident of Bazaar, F. M. Gaddie, 70, dies at his home; was married to Miss Roanna Talkington in 1889 at Matfield Green.


     Feb 5 - Mrs Hannah Breese, of this city, passed her 93 birthday and believed to be the oldest woman living in Chase Co.


     The Matfield Green Bank paid its final dividend.


     Feb 12 - The death of Mrs George Stubenhofer occurred at the Stubenhofer home in Strong City.
