     Jul 8 1936 - Dr. Chas. McKinley, of Strong City is the new County Health Officer .

     The Bank Hotel at Strong City is installing a steam heating system.

     Jul 15 - Grasshopper poison arrives at last.

     Jul 22 - Saffordville's new Rural High school nearing completion.

     Aug 5 - The large farm barn of Henry Cahoone west of this city was destroyed by fire.

     Aug 12 - Chase County is added to drouth aid list.

     Miss Ester McClean and Jack Buffington both of this city became man and wife.

     Aug 19 - The Smith Bros. Grocery Co. the oldest firm in Chase County was sold to Henry Cahoone.

     Paul Evans wins a free trip to Dallas, Texas.

     A double wedding is held at Emporia for Beryl Hays to Wilbur Stout and Louise Goad and Ted Scott.

     Sep 2 - The 1936 heat wave breaks.

     Sep 16 - The Chase County Historical Society is now compiling the first volume of the history of Chase County.

     Sep 23 - Miss Edna Gibb and Mr. Richard Iliff are wed. Also Jean Lancaster and Gerald Becker.

     Mr. & Mrs G. W. Cross of the Patton district have a new baby boy.

     Sep 30 - The sixteenth annual fair opened today.

     Mrs L. C. Umberger passes away. She was the daughter of Henry and Carrie Collett.

     Oct 12 - Mr. & Mrs Frank Gaddie of Bazaar, are the parents of a baby girl.

     Oct 21 - Elmdale votes for an addition onto the high school.

     Nov 4 - Deaths; Wallace A. Wood, pioneer settler of Chase County died at his home in Elmdale; Mrs Chas. E. Houston of Cottonwood Falls, and N. M. Patton.

     Nov 11 - Chase County cast its heaviest vote in any election in its history.

     Nov 18 - Rachel Sayre, 18 year-old, 4-H club girl of the Sky High 4-H Club of the southwest part of the county has just been awarded a trip to the International Live Stock Show in Chicago, which is given by the Santa Fe Railroad Co.

     Last week County Commissioner, W. P. Rettiger, who is a stone mason by trade, cut on the stones on each side of the courthouse door the figures “l87l" and "1872"

     Dec 2 - R. L. Albin, of Saffordville, will head the Chase County Farm Bureau as president for 1937.

     Dec 9 - The Chase Co. Commissioners reinstate a bounty on coyotes, killed in this county of one dollar per head.

     Dec 16 - Twenty-five poor families of this county have been "adopted" for Christmas by the Benevolent Organizations and individuals here according to Miss Mattie Kirk, County Poor Commissioner.

     A ten day extension for tax-payers has been announced.
