     Jun 23 1937 - The trustees of the Matfield Green church have sold it and the parsonage buildings and furnishings.

     E Brown & Son Funeral Co. opened their new chapel at the Brown home awhile back and it can seat 175 people.

     Mr. & Mrs Edward Fillmore have their first daughter named Peggy Ann born June 11th.

     Jul 14 - Two office rooms will be established in the basement of the courthouse.

     The City of cottonwood Falls workers are painting parking stripes.

     Jul 21 - Emma R. Beedle, has passed away. She moved to Chase County with her husband E. R. in 1881 where she has since resided.

     AD - $25, $30 & $35 suits at Jim Bell’s.

     On July 18th the Government thermometer at Cottonwood Falls registered 119 degrees. 1936 has been a hot year.

     Jul 28 - Two Chase County girls, Georgia & Frances Griffith, are operating their mother’s 100 acre farm near Cedar Point by themselves and they are doing a fine job of it.

     Aug 11 - Miss Rose Rettiger, daughter of Em & Barbara Rettiger meets death in a motor accident in Chicago, Il.

     Aug 18 - Miss Orpha Williams and Mr. Wm. Glanville are wed.

     Hot sizzling weather hurting crops now.

     The Lloyd Yoakems of the Wonsevu vicinity have a new girl.

     Aug 25 - Miss Cecil Ballew of Cottonwood Falls & Eugene Reehling of Elmdale are united in marriage.

     Sep 8 - Record rain falls here last week-end.

     District No. 43, Matfield Green voted a bond issue of $22,000 for the building of a new grade school building.

     Sep 15 - Chase County is still free of infantile paralysis.

     Sep 22 - Expect 1937 Fair to break all records.

     Mr. & Mrs W. P. Evans celebrate their 65th. wedding anniversary.

     Oct 6 - The running of the races is the most popular event according to fair fans. (Running of the horses that is)

     Oct 18 - Fritz Bruner of Cedar Point losses hand in a mill roller.

     Oct 20 - Mrs J. H. Doolittle, wife of Joseph Harman Doolittle has passed away.

     Frank Harshman & Richard Petford place high at the Annual Royal.

     Wonsevu is the largest rural one-teacher school in Chase County with 28 enrolled.

     Nov 3 - Irwin “Toughy” Meyers will manage the meat department of the People’s Cash Grocery here.

     Nov 10 - W. R. Blackburn has discontinued the hardware store business in Bazaar and moved the stock to the Evans Hardware Co. Store in Strong City in which he has a partnership.

     The old Union school house District #9 on Middle creek will be a school house no more. George McCallum, was the highest bidder for the building at $180.00.
