     Nov 17 1937 - Death of Evander W. Bocook

     Nov 24 - Elmdale high has an undefeated football season. Some of the team members are; Capt. Roth Narramore, Gene Crowell, Lloyd Mock, Richard Thurston, Geo. Gibb, Willard Dull, Howard Stubenhofer, Kenneth Hailey, and Edwin Giger.

     Dec 8 - Ad - Farmers Union - Elrndale - 2 lb. can coffee 52cents; Oleo, 2 lbs. 25 cents; Hamburger, 2 lbs. 25 cents; cocoa, 2 lb. can 13 cents.

     Dec 15 - County to keep $100 beer licenses for the coming year.

     Dec 22 - Death of Homer Foxworthy.

     Dec 29 - Deaths; K. S. Bennett, Mrs Emma Maloney, and Aaron Walker.

     On Christmas day Mr. & Mrs Francis Perkins celebrated 50 years of married life togather.

     A few Cottonwood Falls Merchants advertising in 1937 are: Lyric Theatre, Kuhl Drugstore, Hamm Electric Shop, Star Meat Market, Bud’s Barber Shop, Wilcox Pharmacy, J. E. Bocook, Real Estate, Klamm’s Dairy, Cahoone Quality Grocery and Kozy Lunch.

     Jan 12 1938 - The farm home on the J. S. Doolittle farm on Diamond creek was destroyed by fire. Mr. & Mrs Bernard Whitney lived in the home.

     Jan 19 - To continue the one percent social security tax.

     Jan 26 - The city library is now a free public library.

     Charles Remy has a fatal heart attack. He started his first tin shop in Strong City in 1908. Moved it to Cottonwood Falls in 1914.

     Jan 12 - 500 people or more attended the formal opening of the new Locker system installed by the Diamond Ice Company.

     Jan 19 - Karl Anderson begins building a greenhouse on his place north of the Cottonwood Falls Bridge. It will be 58 by 21 feet.

     Feb 2 - Gerald Remy is taking over his father’s tin business.

     Chase county’s last Civil War Veteran dies - W. W. Wilson of Strong City.

     Feb 16 - The first announcement that Jas. Burnley compemplates building a library building for the Falls is made known.

     Feb 23 - The Roundhouse at Strong City is cut to four or five men.

     Apr 6 - Karl Anderson has the contract for building the Burnley Library.

     Apr 27 - W. P. Rettiger of Strong City has passed away. He was county commissioner, 16 years Mayor of Strong City, City Councilman, Member of the School Board and Postmaster of Strong City for eight years.

     Apr 30 - The Santa Fe Roundhouse at Strong City has been permanently closed, after 51 years of service. It has employed 18 men for the past two years. It used to employ 25 and in world war days as high as 62. The roundhouse was built by Barney Lantry in 1887.

     May 4 - Chase County gets an old fashion time gully washer.

     Miss Florence McCabe and Rollie Scott, a. young Bazaar couple were wed.

     May 11 - The Strong City Legion Post sponsoring a rodeo on May 14th and 15th on the E. C. Roberts farm two miles west of Strong City on Trail No. 50 - S.
