Jan 18 1939 - Bob Gibb is the new Chase County Sheriff.
Jan 25 - The Clements Community Library purchases new books.
Feb 1 - Commissioners rent land of the County Poor Farm
Feb 8 - Over fifty sections of grass burned before it is somewhat contained.
Miss Lorene Austin & Neil Scott were married by Rev. Frank Steele.
Miss Juanita Riley starts work in Chase county as new Home Demonstration Agent.
Feb 15 - Fire destroys the Rock creek school house west of Bazaar.
Feb 22 - Miss Frances Mounkes, of Reading, and Mr. Lloyd Thompson of Ciements, are united in marriage at the Friends parsonage by Rev. George Bond.
Emmett Magathan has purchased 880 acres of the Clover Cliff Ranch near Elmdale.
Mar 1 - Heart attack is fatal to Carl Palmer of Strong City. His wife Bertha and sons, Robert and Arthur survive him.
John Miller passes away after a major operation. Mr. Miller has spent his entire life in farming & the livestock business in Chase Co. Mr. Miller was the oldest son of Arch & Mary Miller.
Mar 8 - Isla Rosaline Hull & Elmer R. Swift are wed.
Six Strong City youths are picked up by Sheriff Bob Gibb on the charge of chicken stealing. Two of the youths are under sixteen.
Earl Miser family of Bazaar holds public sale.
Mar 15 - W. P. Evans died at his home in this city.
Fred Murdock of the Elinor vicinity, will erect a fine new farm home.
F. W. Huth will be the contractor.
Mar 22 - Bethel Chapter instituted here in this city.
Rural schools show a big shrinkage. There are 29 rural common schools and
9 grade schools in the county.
Apr 5 - W. K. Myers of this city was one of Chase counties oldest, highly respected and honored men has passed away.
Justice of the Peace E. D. Forney performed his first marriage ceremony.
Apr 12 - Jim Way buys the Narramore grocery store in Elmdale.
Apr 19 - Sudden death of Mrs Jas. 0. Pierce of the Stribby creek vicinity.
She was the mother of two sets of twins, Lester & Leslie and Walter &
Bud.
Apr 26 - Heart attack is fatal to David Mercer of Matfield Green.
May 3 - Joe Morazzo buys the Gregory building, on the east side of Broadway, where he will move his grocery business to.
The R. F. Holmes of this city celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
May 17 - Wayne Keller will be the acting Mayor of Cottonwood Falls.
May 24 - The funeral services for Mrs Dora Stone of the Saffordville vicinity was held in the Toledo Methodist Church.
May 31 - A flag pole has been erected at the Prairie Grove cemetery by the Claude Newlee Post of the American Legion.
