Jan. 17, 1901 -- Dr. F. T. Johnson was awarded the poor practice for the entire county
at $400 per year.
The board ordered N. Gosler to suceed Chas. Golden as Justice of the Peace
in Matfield.
Clarence Baldwin celebrates his 47th birthday by being suprised by a number
of his friends.
Jan. 24, 1901 --Real estate transfer, C. Pendergraft to J. E. Stout.
F. E. Dwelle and wife have another son, who will cast a straight republican
vote in 1922.
Wonsevu has two saw mills in full operation.
Jan. 24, 1901 -- Dan Reyer & family have moved into their new home in Canaan.
A party is in this county buying horses for the English Mounted Police of South Africa.
A meeting of the Library Club to be held at the home of Mr. Hildinger.
There is some talk of putting a telephone line from Cottonwood to Diamond
Springs.
A. H. Knox of Hymer has 90 acres of shock corn and 80 acres of land for sale.
Wood chopping is all the go on Mr. Kirk's ranch on Rock Creek. Some come as
far as 10 miles to get their fuel, posts, etc.
Jan. 31, 1901 -- The horse buyers shipped last week and will return again.
Carl Fisher, who worked for Drake, has purchased Rockwood & Son's meat market.
Married, in the court room, Edward P. Pinnick & Annie Maybell, both of Hymer.
Gillett & Ferlet are building a warehouse in rear of the National Bank, in
which to store machinery and implements.
Strong City is justly proud of its new opera house.
Dan McGinley, formerly of Strong City died near Cripple Creek, Colo.
Probate Judge McDonald has settled over 40 estates the past two years.
Jacob Stotler, well known to the earlier settlers of Chase Co. died from
complication of troubles, at age 68.
Feb. 7, 1901 -- The Grimwood Bros. have arrived from Oklahoma and will open their store
at Cedar Point right away.
A. B, Emerson cut up eight hogs, for Frank Byram. Jess Riggs & Tom Frey
are rendering lard and making sausage.
