     Jan. 24, 1901 -- Dan Reyer & family have moved into their new home in Canaan.

     A party is in this county buying horses for the English Mounted Police of South Africa.

     There is some talk of putting a telephone line from Cottonwood to Diamond Springs.

     A. H. Knox of Hymer has 90 acres of shock corn and 80 acres of land for sale.

     Wood chopping is all the go on Mr. Kirk's ranch on Rock Creek. Some come as far as 10 miles to get their fuel, posts, etc.

     Jan. 31, 1901 -- The horse buyers shipped last week and will return again.

     Carl Fisher, who worked for Drake, has purchased Rockwood & Son's meat market.

     Married, in the court room, Edward P. Pinnick & Annie Maybell, both of Hymer.

     Gillett & Ferlet are building a warehouse in rear of the National Bank, in which to store machinery and implements.

     Strong City is justly proud of its new opera house.

     Dan McGinley, formerly of Strong City died near Cripple Creek, Colo.

     Probate Judge McDonald has settled over 40 estates the past two years.

     Jacob Stotler, well known to the earlier settlers of Chase Co. died from complication of troubles, at age 68.

     Feb. 7, 1901 -- The Grimwood Bros. have arrived from Oklahoma and will open their store at Cedar Point right away.

     A. B, Emerson cut up eight hogs, for Frank Byram. Jess Riggs & Tom Frey are rendering lard and making sausage.
