     Aug 13 1941 - Chase County furnishes 1,000 pounds of aluminum for defense uses.

     Aug 20 - Deaths: Mrs Albert Gardner & N. B. Scribner.

     Increased wages for road & bridge workers of the county. Common labors are raised from 40 to 45 cents per hour and skilled men from 50 to 55 cents per hour.

     Sep 3 - Mr. & Mrs Ray Patton of the Homestead community will soon celebrate 53 years of wedded life.

     A well lighted croquet field at the home of Floyd Caruthers in Saffordville is quite a popular place.

     Sep 10 - Many schools in the county were closed on account of the floods.

     Sep 17 - Two Cottonwood Falls boys, George Mendenhall and Jim Bell, Jr., enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corps at Kansas City and are now stationed at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri.

     Sep 24 - J. V. Gilmore of this city sold his home to Del Evans. It is on the southest of the Burgner-Bowman-Matthews Lumber yard and is a six room cottage.

     The county jail had 19 occupants in September according to Sheriff, Bob Gibb. This is believed to have set a new record.

     Oct 8 - Ralph W. Swift the first selectee from Chase County is home from Army Camp, also many of the Chase Co. soldiers are home on furlough.

     Oct 22 - 16 year old Virginia Petford wins the Homemaking Award at the American Royal Live Stock Show in Kansas City.

     Chase County has worst flood of twenty years. Crops are hard hit.

     Oct 29 - Elmdale Bank will celebrate its fifieth anniversary on Nov. 1st

     The marriage of Miss Neva Scott & John R. McCabe of Bazaar was held in Rushville, Arkansas where John is stationed at Camp Robinson.

     Nov 5 - Gilmore Cecil Daniel, son of Mr. & Mrs P. C. Daniel, of Strong City is alive and a prisoner in Germany.

     Deaths; Samuel I. Vinson & Mrs Augusta Kohls.

     Nov 19 - The seventh F.F.A. parent - son banquet will be held at the Masonic Temple in this city.

     Nov 26 - William Stuhenhofer, one of Chase County’s best known farmers died suddenly at his farm home northeast of Elmdale. Mr. Stubenhofer was married to Miss Ida Kaufman.

     Dec 3 - Mr. & Mrs Donald Drummond of Elmdale, are the parents of a son named Gerald Dean.

     Dec 17 - Captain Irving Myers, of Camp Robinson, Little Rock, Arkansas has been promoted to Major.

     Dec 24 - Mrs C. C. Rider, died at her home in the city. Her maiden name was Miss Emma Smethers.

     No iron for bridge building now in Chase County.

     Dec 31 - Tire rationing boards for Chase County selected: C. A. Blackburn, Victor Kirk, Keith Drummond, Pat Mushrush, Charles Brown, Hugh Campbell, Hillman Amerine, just to name a few. Rationing will start after Jan. 1st.
