     May 6 1942 - Mrs Leola Evans began work in the Exchange National Bank here filling the vacancy made by the resignation of Mrs Harold Finley.


     May 13 - Heart ailment takes Joe Morozzo's life. He established the Peoples Super Market, one of the finest stores for many miles around.


     Several schools closed after being hit by epidemics of measles & mumps.


     May 20 - War or no war the Chase County Fair will carry on, according to T. R. Wells, president.


     Wm. F. Kieferle has just became the sole owner of the Martin Dry Goods Co.


     5-27 - New County Rationing Board is organized. R. Z. Blackburn, of this city will head the new board as Chairman.


     Jun 3 - A life long resident of the Saffordville - Toledo vicinity, Wm. A. Stone has died.


     Jun 17-Rubber drive is going over big in the county.


     Mr. & Mrs E. B. Laughridge of Cedar Point now have three sons in Uncle Sam’s service, Frank, Robert, and Arthur.


     The Myers Brothers, Irving & Ralph, Sons of Mrs W. K. Myers of this city are now both Captains in the U. S. Army.


     Jul 1 - USO quota for this county is set at $220.


     J. J. Cahoone passes away at his home west of this city.


     This county registers 98 men under twenty.


     August Bahr of Rock Creek has passed away. Mr. Bahr never married.


     Jul 8 - Bruce Park, 24, son of Mr. & Mrs Clyde Park, of Clements, was killed by the accidental discharge of a shotgun while hunting coyote.


     Jul 15 - For the first time in twenty-two years Chase County's annual fair is to be dispensed with this season.


     Jul 22 - Lieut. Earl “Bud” Howard, son of Mrs Mattie Howard of this city was killed when his big B-24 bomber crashed on a training flight in Arizona.


     Jul 29 - County 4-H Club members will hold a two day fair in Sept.


     Aug 5 - Miss Catherine Selves becomes the bride of Roy Burton.


     Aug 12 - Four new courses to be offered at Chase County Community High School


     Aug 19 - Legion votes to send French war cannon back to war.


     Aug 26 - May call 3 -A men for service soon.


     Sep 2 - Teacher shortage on eve of schools to open.


     Oliver Burton, of Bazaar, was appointed sheriff last week by Governor Ratner, to fill the vacancy made by the recent resignation of Bob Gibb. It was nearly sixteen years ago that Mr. Burton was elected sheriff of the county and he served two terms.


     Sep 9 - Miss Juanita Cahoone of this place and Mr. Elmo Starkey are wed.


     Miss Jane Galbraith is an air hostess, with headquarters in Kansas City.


     Sep 16 - Local theatres will stage a bond rally.


     Sep 23 - Freeze-Ration sale of new farm implements.
