     May 8 1946 - Lloyd Jones is placing machinery at the old Jones Quarry, east of Strong City on what is now the Frank Frey place.

     May 15 - Miss Lois June Mushrush became the bride of Mr. William J. Cooper.

     May 22 - A heart attack claimed the life of Mrs Oscar Messer near Cottonwood Falls. Two children survive her, Harold and Alice.

     May 29 - Dr. Leo F. McKee of Hiawatha, is planning to locate in Cottonwood Falls.

     Jun 5 - Miss Janice Elizabeth Nuttle and Mr. James Campbell McNee are wed in a double ring ceremony.

     Little Mary Elizabeth Bledsoe, came to join the family of Mr. & Mrs Hazen Bledsoe of Strong City, who weighed 6 pounds and 14 ounces.

     Jun 12 - Paul Breese Wood, 36, cattleman and rancher of Strong City was killed in Colorado from a fall off a cliff. He leaves a wife, Dorleen and two sons, Bruce and David.

     Services for Mrs Oscar Dauhn of Clements are held at the home.

     Jun l9 - 7 inch rain nearly causes a flood.

     A large crowd of 1,000 attend the dedication of new buildings and improvements at Camp Wood at Elmdale.

     Jun 26 - Another popular teacher, who taught second grade in the Cottonwood Falls City School has chosen Chase County as her permanent home by marrying one of Chase County’s leading young farmers and stockman. The wedding of Miss Sally Weigand and Edward Whitney, Jr. They will make their home on the ranch.

     Jul 3 - A. E. Lewis, son of the late Mr. & Mrs Mahlon Lewis has passed away. He married the late Catherine L. Rettiger in 1893. He was a Santa Fe machinist for 32 years.

     Jul 10 - The county has sustained the loss of three well known women, Mrs Lydia Gibson, Mrs Etta Bastin, and Mrs W. T. Pyles.

     Jul 24 - Paul Bennett sells the Bank Hotel.

     Aug 7 - Little Martha Barrett is the second case of polio in the county. Martha is 13 months old and the daughter of Mr. & Mrs Richard Barrett.

     Aug 14 - Mit Kline sells implement company at Strong City to Mr. & Mrs Kenneth Clark.

     Peak & Hatcher of Emporia have purchased the 2,880 Wood Ranch on Fox Creek. The per acre value of the sale was $48.00.

     The 26th annual fair is called off because of the polio.

     John Drummond, a pioneer of Chase County passes away.

     Aug 28 - Miss Alice Marie Payton and Edwin D. Childs are united in marriage. They will live on the Doolittle farm west of Strong City.

     J. T. Lardner moved in equipment to start quarrying rock out on the Sid Cahoone hill.

     Sep 4 - Funeral services are held for Claude Shaft.

     A beautiful late summer wedding was solemnized, that of Doris Evans Wilson of Strong City and Glenn Gordon Crofoot of Saffordville.
