     Feb 19 1947 - Chase County Community High School wins the Class ‘B’ basketball tournament.


     The first coon dog trial was held in Chase County.


     Feb 26 - Funeral services are held for Thomas Dwight Vinson. He is survived by his wife Ida M. Vinson of Cottonwood Falls, Ks.


     Wm. Ryan has his building in Strong City nearly ready for the opening of a Men’s Furnishings store.


     Mar 5 - Mrs John Drummond of Strong City passed away at her home.


     Mar 12 - J. C. McNee buys the Waddell Hardware in Cottonwood Falls. Mr. Sidney Symes will assist with the stores management.


     County Fair Board elected for 1947, T. R. Wells, president, L. E. Croy, vice - president, Ernest McKenzie, secretary and F. L. Grimwood, treasurer. The Board of Directors are: J. J. Harbison, George McCallum, Don McCallum, Bud Welch, Frank Gaddie and Charles Selves.


     Funeral services held for Miss Maggie Jeffrey. She was a school teacher all her life in Chase County.


     Mar 19 - Mr. & Mrs E. Rickey have purchased the Hotel at Matfield Green from Mrs T. U. Decker.


     Mar 26 - J. V. Hensley and Flossie Hensley have purchased the Flint Hills Cafe of Mrs Nell Conklin.


     Apr 9 - Mr. & Mrs Harold Talkington of Matfield Green, have a new son, named Doyle Eugene.


     Apr 16 - Miss Julia McCabe and Mr. Dale Hull are united in marriage. Their home will be in Dodge City, Ks.


     Apr 23 - Mrs Ida Drinkwater, pioneer resident of Cedar Point passed away at her home south of Cedar Point.


     Apr 30 - The Super Market store in Cottonwood Falls was robbed of $800.00.


     May 7 - Sidney Rufener, first son of Mr. & Mrs B. B. Rufener passed away at age 42.


     May 14 - Chase County Selective Service Board is closed.


     May 21 - Voters of Cottonwood Falls are to go to the polls and vote on a Swope park improvements bond issue.


     For Sale - 8 frame beehives and supers, ready for your swarms — Geo. E. Capwell.


     May 28 - Miss Flossie Mae Hensley of Strong City became the bride of Mr. Leroy Theodore White also of Strong City.


     Swope Park bonds passed by voters in the amount of $20,000.


     Ed Forney, Justice of the Peace, of Cottonwood Falls, had a busy week taking care of drunks and traffic violators.


     Jun 4 - Class of 29 enrolled in kindergarden this summer.


     Miss Betty McCracken of Bazaar, is wed to Mr. Kenneth Hastings. They will live in Strong City.


     Jun 11 - Chase County now has a population of 5,098, a gain.


     Bummys new market will open in Elmdale.
