     Oct 6 1948 - Belle Tucker Holmes of Elmdale passes away.


     A. H. Ballard buys the filling station at Clements from Bert Dawson.


     Oct 13 - A. J. "Andy" Walker died at his home at Cottonwoood Falls. For many years he had a blacksmith shop on the main street.


     Chas. Donart opens a shoe repair shop here in this city. Mr Donart has rented the former Remy Tin shop.


     Oct 27 - McNee Hardware takes over Hoover Plumbing.


     Mr. & Mrs Albert Odle celebrated their Silver wedding anniversary.


     Nov 10 - Jennie Mailen elected Register of Deeds by 3 votes.


     Dec 1 - Death takes Frank Bell.


     Born to Mr. & Mrs Neil Scott, a son, named Ronald Austin; Mr. & Mrs Jack Hansen, a girl, Roberta Sue; and Mrs. & Mrs W. R. Campbell, a girl, Sharon Kay.


     Hope Goad Evans and John B. Rufener are wed.


     Dec 8 - Heart attack is fatal to Geo. Capwell. He opened a photographic studio in this city in 1896 and was in the honey business.


     Dec 15 - Arthur Wilson who has lived 50 years on his farm near Bazaaar has passed away.


     Dec 22 - Wally Evans buys the McNee Hardware in this city.


     Jan 5 1949 - Miss Leala Mae Wilcox became the bride of Mr. Francis Towle in Osage City.


     Mr. & Mrs George Yeager of Bazaar have a new baby girl, Mary Catherine and Mr. & Mrs Edwin Childs, of Strong City, a boy, Edwin Larry.


     Jan 12 - The fourth annual cattlemen’s banquet was held in Cottonwood Falls.


     Feb 9 - Henry Schoap and Larry Spencer have purchased the T. Jensen and Son Locker Plant in this city.


     Mrs Dorleen Wood and Robert English both of Strong City are wed at the Strong City Methodist church.


     Feb 16 - Mrs John Bray, a Bazaar pioneer passes away.


     Mar 9 - Fire wipes out the Joe Schwilling home.


     Mar 16 - Born to Mr. & Mrs Merle Whitlock of Elmdale, a daughter, Gwen Ellen.


     Mar 23 - All cattle brands must be re-registered every five years.


     Apr 6 - Cedar Point to have a modern locker plant.


     Apr 27 - Miss Oma Lou Frey, daughter of Mr. & Mrs Frank Frey was chosen as one of the attendants to the Queen at the annual Rodeo at Kansas State College.


     May 4 - Bob Suits, owner and operator of the service station and grocery at Saffordville is adding a locker plant to his business.


     John Busselle, son-in-law of W. F. Kieferle is becoming a partner in the Kieferle Dry Goods Store.


     May 11 - Deaths: Mrs Frank Brown, Mrs John Campbell and Mrs James Shaw.


     Jun 1 - The courthouse is getting a sandblast cleaning.
