     Jun 15 1949 - Drivers License fees to $1.00 and $3.00.


     The Flint Hills airport south of the city limits will hold its formal opening.


     Patricia Diane Howard became the bride of John J. McLinden, Jr.


     Jun 22 - Two new Elmdale citizens, a boy for Mr. & Mrs George McCallum and a daughter for Mr. & Mrs Edwin Giger, Joyce Anne.


     Jul 27 - Dr. J. F. Newell, father of Mrs Leo Johnson of Matfield Green died at Hutchinson. Dr. Newell was a former physican at Matfield Green.


     Aug 3 - Mr. & Mrs Keith W. Gibb of Elmdale, have a new baby boy, Dennis William and Mr. & Mrs R. L. Carrier of Cottonwood Falls, a son Jon Randell.


     The Russell Blackburn Post of the American Legion at Strong City have purchased the Peyton Creek school house and have had it moved to the corner location of the South Side grade school in Strong City.


     Kuhl Drug Co. — Ice cream soda - 15 cents, Milk shake - 15 cents, Fudgicles - 5 cents, and eskimo pie — 10 cents.


     Aug 10 - Sudden death of Reuben K. Holdeman of Cottonwood Falls.


     A boy is born to Mr. & Mrs Chas. Hailey of Elmdale.


     Aug 17 - Services for William Parks of Cedar Point.


     Mrs Louise Kaltenbacher died at her home north of Saffordville. Her maiden name was Uhl, and she was the mother of Fred, Ferd and Lottie Kaltenbacher.


     Aug 24 - Jim Way is having his Food Store enlarged in Cottonwood Falls.


     Aug 31 - Contract is let for the new addition to the Chase County Community High School.


     Howard Wood and Mary Margaret (Peggy) Noble are united in marriage.


     Sep 14 - A bond for $12,000 to buy machinery which is necessary to maintain the streets, of Cottonwood Falls carried vote being 57 to 34.


     Sep 20 - The old former Cottonwood Grade School built in 1882 is being razed to make room for the new addition to the Chase County Community High School. The limestone will be used in the lower partion of the new building.


     Sep 28 - Mr. & Mrs Whitt Laughridge of Cottonwood Falls have a new arrival at their home, a daughter named Kay Ellen.


     Oct 12 - Deaths Carl Mauderly of Elmdale; and Fred F. Roniger of Oakland Calif.


     Oct 19 - A heart attack is fatal to Harry Fetrow, a farmer and stockman, who lived southeast of Cedar Point.


     Oct 26 - Miss Cleta Mae Carpenter of Cedar Point and Vernon Lee Scott of Cottonwood Falls are wed.


     Mr. & Mrs Roy Lawrence of Bazaar are the parents of a son, Donald Eugene.


     Nov 2 - Lawrence Rogler, 55, of Bazaar passed away suddenly at his home.


     11-9- John Studer and Marlene Long are wed.
