     1949 - 1950


     Nov 16 1949 - Chase County loses two early settlers, John Stewart of Elmdale and Charles Daub of Strong City.


     Miss Alice Arlele Messer and Mr. Edlin Fink are wed. They will reside on a farm south of Cottonwood Falls


     Nov 30 - Bazaar loses two pioneers, Victoria Jeffrey Norton and J. P. Sharp.


     Dec 14 - Ralph Klamm sold his dairy herd and equipment to N. V. Provost of Strong City.


     Norma Ruth Pritchett and Russell Schwilling are united in marriage at the Methodist Church at Strong City.


     Dec 21 - 1950 car tags to be up about 50 percent.


     Dec 28 - Cecil Kuhl’s sudden death saddens Chase County. For 34 years he was a druggist in Cottonwood Falls.


     Jan 4 1950 - A life long resident of Strong City has passed away. Miss Ella Rettiger, daughter of Mr. & Mrs John Rettiger.


     Jan 11 - K. L. Billings buys the Kuhl Drug Co. in Cottonwood Falls.


     Jan 18 - Kenneth Stahl was high point man for the Clements Eagles basketball team in their game with Elmdale with 14 points.


     Jan 25 - Deaths: Mrs Mary Yeager, and John "Tot" Ramer Blackshere.


     New phone rates - Residence Service City one party line $2.75.


     Mr. & Mrs Henry Brecht of Saffordville have new twin daughters.


     Benjamin E. Sayre of Strong City passes away at the age of 35 years. His parents are Ernest and Rosa Sayre.


     Feb 1 - New County letters for auto licenses in 1951.


     Feb 22 - Mr. & Mrs Charles P. Thompson of Homestead celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.


     County champions of the basketball tournament for 1950 are the Elmdale High School. The runner - up is Cedar Point High School.


     Mar 1 - Mrs Anna N. Quinn, 64 has passed away.


     Henry Meyers, has purchased the Strong City Locker Plant.


     Mar 8 - Dudley Doolittle Jr., buys the Lyric and Uptown theatres in Cottonwood Falls and Strong City.


     Mar 15 - County music festival will be held at the Matfield Green High School Auditorium.


     Mr. & Mrs Wayne Park are having a new home built on their farm south of Clements. John Wells of Cottonwoood Falls has the contract.


     DeWitt Radio Service AD - 7.2 Cu. ft. Philco refrigerator with freezing compartment $194.50.


     Mar 22 - Dr. Leo F. McKee, one of the local leading doctors of the county, has let the contract to F. W. Huth, to build a new office on lots he has bought west of Friend street.


     Mar 29 - Fred Smethers, 80, a prominent citizen of Elmdale, passed away at his home in that city. He married Dottie Rider in 1894.


     Louie Roniger, has passed away in Cottonwood Falls.


     Mr. & Mrs Wallace Rollins of this city have a new baby girl.
