     Oct 3 - Dean Harry Unberger, pioneer here dies at age 70.


     Oct 10 - Mr. & Mrs Paul Magathan, of Elmdale have a new son, Paul Joseph.


     The Chase County Football team bows to Peabody with a score of 20 - 6.


     Oct 17 - Trend is back to wintering cattle here.


     Henry Frank Brown, 64, passes away due to a heart ailment. He married Miss Georgia H. Houston in 1918.


     Births: Mr. & Mrs Ted White of Cottonwood Falls, a daughter, Susan


     Pvt. & Mrs Richard Littler, a daughter, Kathryn Maree.


     Oct 24 - Mr. & Mrs S. R. Stauffer entertained with an open house at their home in Cottonwood Falls in honor of the golden wedding anniversary.


     Pvt. Roy E. Hager, son of Mr. & Mrs Harry Hager, of Cottonwood Falls has completed his AF basic airman endoctrination course at Lockland Air Force Base.


     The Rainbow Garden Club celebrates 20th anniversary at the country home of Mrs Gerald Remy. Six of the charter members are still in the club.


     Oct 31 - Plane crash fatal to Brent Bros at Isabel, Ks. They formerly lived on the now Spencer ranch and are nephews of Mrs Fred Wilcox. Bill was 27 and brother Bob, 20.


     Nov 7 - Death of Mrs Chas. (Alice) Sayre of Cedar Point.


     A new office building on east Broadway to be built for Dr. Carter Sigel.


     Nov 14 - Mrs Earl Steadman left on a trip to Vienna, Austria to visit her folks.


     Mr. & Mrs Edwin Giger of Elmdale are the proud parents of twins, a boy, Allan Dean and a girl, Alice Jean.


     Nov 21 - Mrs Katie Reidel, born in Asch, Austria, wife of the former Thomas Reidel, of Matfield Green, has passed away.


     Elmdale undefeated for four years in 6-man football.


     Dec 5 - Prominent Toledo farmer Theodore Fowler Guthrie, 77, has died.


     Miss Dorothy Deitrich and Dudley Doolittle, Jr. are wed in Emporia.


     Chuck Humphrey catches a 40 pound beaver in the Cottonwood river near the C. K. Jones farm.


     Dec 5 - Births: Mr. & Mrs Everett Wilson of Saffordville, a girl, Nancy Jean, and Mr. & Mrs Girdner Crofoot, a son, Mark B.


     Dec 19 - W. C. Austin sells the Chase County Leader to Harold & J. Richard Iliff of Strong City, after 48 years of publication.


     Dec 19 - Schools of Clements and Elmdale are broken into and robbed.


     Mr. & Mrs J. M. Miller of Elmdale celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.


     Dec 26 - Ex-Sheriff John V. Gilmore of Chase County has passed away.
