Jul 29 1953 - Mr. & Mrs Everett Wilson, of Cottonwood Falls are the parents of a son, David Bruce.
Aug 5 - Wheat farmers will vote soon on a wheat marketing quota.
Dean Parks and Robert Campbell, both of Cottonwood Falls have Joined the navy.
Aug 12 - The Ryan Clothing Store, a men’s clothing store in Strong City is going out of business, after six years.
Aug 19 - All Chase County schools will open on September 7th.
Aug 26 - Telephone strike has little effect locally.
Sep 2 - Tax rates this year will be some higher.
Mrs Frank Wagoner, 72, of Matfield Green passed away.
The Cedar Valley Baptist Church celebrates sixty-fourth anniversary.
Sep 9 - Mrs Jerry Brown, 83, a resident of Cottonwood Falls for many years passed away at her home.
Mr. & Mrs Walter Green of Elmdale, have a new baby, Anita Marie.
James B. McCabe, 86, a native of Ireland, had resided in Chase County 68 years and a retired railroad worker has died.
Bonnie Lee McCabe of Elrndale and Charles Edwin Turney of Emporia have a lovely home wedding.
Sep 16 - "Martha's” is the name selected by Mr. & Mrs Edward Maddox for the restaurant which they are opening in Cottonwood Falls.
Mr. & Mrs B. B. Rufener will soon celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
Sep 23 - Mrs P. C. Schimpff who had lived in Chase County most of 80 years is put to rest in the Prairie Grove Cemetery.
Sep 3 - Extensive repair work on the Cottonwood river dam and at the old mill site is nearing completion. Jesse Long, owner, has directed the work and has done much of it himself.
Barbara J. Beardmore and Charles E. Sisson, of Strong City are married.
Oct 7 - Final rites for Miss Gracia Wood.
