     Apr 14 1954 - Mr. & Mrs Russell Schwilling of Strong City have a new baby girl, Jeanne Rae.


     Apr 21 - Life long resident Claude W. Hawkins of Clements vicinity dies.


     Charles Hager is elected VFW post commander.


     Apr 28 - Hill Crest Manor, modern filling station, cafe and private dining and party room, opened on schedule. Mr. & Mrs Roy Lee will be the managers.


     May 5 - Many turn out for the annual Farmers Stag.


     May 19 - Heart attack claims life of H. C. O’Reilly. He leaves a wife, Esther, sons, Charles, James and Hugh.


     May 26 - June Miller and Lee Brewer, Jr. will attend Sunflower Boys State at Wichita.


     Janice Wagoner of Matfield Green and Robert Lee Dewitt of Cottonwood Falls are united in marriage.


     Jun 2 - Mrs W. T. Wyatt, of Cottonwood Falls has died.


     Mr. & Mrs W. J. Pherigo of rural Cottonwood Falls were pleasantly surprised with a basket dinner in honor of their 25th wedding anniversary.


     A new sign has been erected at the main entrance to the Flint Hills Rodeo grounds.


     Jun 9 - The Homestead Community was shocked to hear of the sudden death of Warren Osgood, 57. He died of a heart attack.


     Births: Mr. & Mrs John Pretzer, of Elmdale, a boy, Charles Clyde; Mr. & Mrs Jimmy Barr of Burdick, a son, James Carl.


     Jun 16 - Joel A. Cooper, 90, who lived in Chase county almost his entire life has died at the home of his son, Frank Cooper of Saffordville.


     Start of wheat harvest delayed by heavy rains.


     Jun 23 - Aged Cottonwood Falls resident Orlando Pete Romigh dies.


     Mrs L. E. Croy and David will attend the summer furniture market in Chicago, Illinois and will visit places of interest throughout the city.


     Mr. & Mrs Wm. Lawrence of rural Cottonwood Falls celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.


     Ruth Betty of Strong City and Harvey E. Fosdick of Milton are united in marriage.


     Jun 30 - Robbery at Hill Crest Manor in Strong City.


     The Rhythm Merchants local dance band have purchased a 48 inch exhaust fan which will be installed at the Municipal building.


     Mrs Edna Vestal of Wichita became the bride of Charles D. Rettiger of Strong City.


     Jul 7 - The local dray line that operates from the Strong City and Cottonwood depots has been purchased by Charles Hager, Cottonwood Falls from David Jones of Strong City.
