     1954 - 1955


     Sep 29 1954 - Gerald Roberts of Strong City won the all-around championship at the Frontier Days Rodeo, at Wichita.


     Oct 6 - Change-over from manual controlled warning signals at Santa Fe crossing in Strong City is now in effect.


     Mr. & Mrs J. E. Danford east of Strong City celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.


     Marjorie Albright, Marion, and Lawrence M. Osgood, of Cedar Point are married in the Chase County Courthouse by Probate Judge C. A. Blackburn.


     Oct 13 - Ferd Jeffrey, 88, passed away at his home in Cottonwood Falls.


     New cement street markers are being placed in Cottonwood Falls.


     Cpl. Carl E. Baker, son of Mr. & Mrs Edward A. Baker of Matfield Green, arrived home from Germany where he has been stationed for the last 16 months.


     Oct 20 - Born to Mr. & Mrs Glendon Barrett, rural Cottonwood Falls, a girl, Jana Elizabeth.


     Nov 3 - Some elected officals for Chase County: Joe Rice, County Clerk; Marie Bray, Register of Deeds; Dr. J. Hinden, Coroner; and Mildred Speer, Clerk of District Court.


     Nov 10 - Expect completion of the Chase County lake in January.


     Kenny Billings has purchased the building of his drug store business from Mrs Mabel Kuhl.


     Nov 24 -A Movement has started to erect a sign at lake.


     Shirley Murdock of Cottonwood Falls and Robert Armagost, rural Cottonwood Falls were united in marriage.


     Christmas cards for sale at $1.00 for 25 at Helen’s Shoppe in Cottonwood Falls.


     Dec 1 - Yuletide decorations are being installed in the business districts in Cottonwood Falls and Strong City.


     Dec 22 - John E. Gibb, of Diamond Creek, a resident of Chase County most of his life has passed away.


     Strong City basketball team triumphs over Chase Bulldogs, 83-61. Bruce Wood was high point man with 30 points, and closely followed by Irvin Rettiger with 22.


     Jan 5 1955 - T. B. Christmas seal drive nets over $799 to date.


     Jan 12 - Ralph Donelson of Saffordville named Cattlemens Assosication Head.


     The Clements Bank entered voluntary liquidation and transfer to the Peoples Exchange Bank at Elmdale.


     Mr. & Mrs Walter Green, Elmdale, have a new daughter, Nancy Evelyn.


     Jan 19 - Many eat pancakes and dance with Lions -- profits from day-long events will go a long way toward the purchase of a counthouse clock.


     Jan 26 - Wonsevu’s only store razed by early morning fire.
