     Jul 11 1956 - Slump in population in Chase County. A decrease of 266 persons.


     Frank M. Gaddie is named Rodeo Association President.


     Births: a boy, Gregory Gerard, to Mr. & Mrs Earnest K. Davis of Strong City; a son, David LeRoy, to Mr. & Mrs Charles Klamm, rural Strong City.


     County Engineer Everett Fesler tenders his resignation.


     Clement High School class visits Pennsylvania on trip planned four years.


     Jul 18 - Start movement for swim area at the Chase County Lake.


     Jul 25 - Joe C. Campbell, 84, of Cottonwood Falls passes away.


     Henry Charles O’Reilly and Helen Ann Phillips are united in marriage.


     Aug 1 - Ross Evans, Strong City, succumbs after lengthy illness. He was a retired hardware store owner and life-long resident of Chase County.


     Aug 8 - Plan purchase of Christian Science Church on Elm for the girl & boy scouts of Chase County.


     Perry W. Layport of Cottonwood Falls has died.


     Aug 8 - Fred Siler retires to “take it easy’ after serving the community in many capacities for 60 years.


     Aug 22 - Heart attack claims life of Harold B. Iliff who was postmaster of Strong City in his 21st year and a newspaper man, Herbert H. Hayden of Clements passes away.


     Mr. & Mrs Charles Armagost of Cottonwood Falls, are the parents of a son, Gregory Paul.


     Sep 5 - Remodeling and redecorations is being done at Wilcox Store inside and out.


     Sep 12 - Enrollment for seven Chase County High schools is 266.


     Paul Wood of Elmdale is elected as Historical Society’s President.


     Jesse Long is erecting a new business building on the south bank of the Cottonwood river, a motel and cafe.


     Sep 19 - Strong City parents organize “Teen Town” to be located in the city auditorium.


     Sep 26 - Tragic car accident claims life of 18 year old Jim Archer, son of Mrs Gertrude Archer of Cottonwood Falls.


     Lyric theatre to open in Cottonwood Falls. Mr. Dudley Doolittle is putting the building in shape.


     Nancy Keller to receive nurses cap at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.


     Oct 3 - Mrs Eudora Dye is appointed to the office of County Treasurer to fill the vacancy created by the death of Mrs Hilda Bennett.


     Oct 10 - James “Bus’” Brown of Strong City is named Acting postmaster.


     Mr. & Mrs J. D. Danford, rural Strong City observe their 62nd wedding anniversary.


     Oct 17 - Car accident takes life of “Bus” Magathan 32. His wife, Mary Margaret survives him and his mother, Mrs Raymond S. Magathan, of Strong City.
