     Oct 17 1956 - Ann Stotts, Cottonwood Falls and Arthur Palmer of Strong City are wed.


     Oct 24 - Well known elevator manager, Percy E. Burnett dies suddenly. He was a native Chase Countain.


     Married: Ramona 0liver and Rodney Stahl; Joan Thompson and Dean Brown; Dorothy Hudson and Jim Swift.


     Ted Yoakem has opened a general repair shop in Cedar Point.


     Oct 31 - Carole Ann Boes of Chase County Community High School was crowned homecoming queen.


     Deaths: Mrs Lottie McCabe, of Strong City; George E. Dawson, Clements; Mrs Lillard Brown & Ernest McKenzie of Cottonwood Falls; and Mrs Jim Miller of Elmdale.


     Mr. & Mrs Dudley Doolittle Jr. of Strong City have a new son.


     Nov 14 - Dwight Weaver is the new Bluestem Coop manager.


     Nov 28 - Capt. Gene Crowell, 36, is victim of a heart attack in Landstuhl, Germany. Capt. Crowell, was a pilot, flying F-86 jet fighters. His wife, Dorothy and two daughters, Betty Jean, 14, and Linda Sue, 11 survive him.


     Grace Lucille Yoakem of Cottonwood Falls and Raymond Robinson, of El Dorado are wed.


     Dec 26 - Births: Mr. & Mrs Harold Kipling Wells, Elmdale, a girl, Janna Gail; & Mrs. & Mrs Howard Starks, Cottonwood Falls, a girl, Rebecca Ann.


     Jan 2 1957 - Dinner and reception held in celebration of the 50th wedding anniversary of the C. A. Blackburns.


     Jan 9 - Rainfall for 1956 year totals 20.51 inches.


     Dr. Titus purchases the former Sigel building on Broadway and will move soon.


     Frank Frey retires from the Chase County Community High School board after 24 years of service.


     Marian Fischer of California and Robert L. Campbell of Cottonwood Falls are married.


     Jan 16 - Helen’s Shoppe has been sold to Mrs John McLinden, Jr.


     Jan 23 - Mrs Leroy Giger, 71, of Elmdale passed away.


     Jay Crofoot is to head the Chase County Cattlemen.


     Jan 30 - J. V. Schwilling, of Cottonwood Falls, passes away.


     Mr & Mrs Mason Blackmore of Strong City have a new daughter, Lynette Lee.


     Feb 6 - County Clerk Joe Rice will resign in the Spring. The family will be moving to Topeka.


     Feb 13 - Lions county pancake day is set.


     Feb 27 - Esther Twining Schwilling passed away.


     Mr. & Mrs Howard Schwilling, Elmdale, have a new son, Darrel Lee.


     Mar 6 - Wilbur Talkington is the new Matfield Green postmaster.


     Paul Stotts, Cottonwood Falls has sold his cleaning service to Mr. & Mrs Vincent Ochs.
