     Mar 6 1957 - Mr. & Mrs Edgar Cooper, Saffordville, have a new girl, named Janet Lee. She has two sisters, Nancy & Lu Beth.


     Mar 13 - Oscar A. Daub, 81, well known resident of Strong City has passed away.


     Mar 20 - City elections will be held in five towns in Chase County.


     Mrs Henry Giese, Cottonwood Falls, passes following a brief illness. Also Charles W. Crawford of Clements.


     Mr. & Mrs Gayland Park, Cottonwood Falls, are the parents of a daughter, Tonya Kim.


     Apr 3 Harold "Doug” Gibb of Elmdale has been appointed as the new County Clerk.


     Apr 10 - Two farm homes have been destroyed by fire, George Swifts near Matfield Green and Elmer Cooper’s near Saffordville.


     Roger Weaver Cottonwood Falls eighth grader is winner of the county spelling bee.


     After 60 years of teaching piano, Mrs Nellie McMorris of Strong City will be honored at a public reception.


     Apr 17 - Homestead pioneer Charles 0. Yoakem, 81, succumbs.


     Apr 24 - Two are selected to attend Boys State, Gary Hutti & Ronnie Scott.


     Friends gather to help Oscar Altemus celebrate his 90th birthday.


     May 1 - Pioneer Chase Countain Edward D. Forney, 90, of Cottonwood Falls is taken in death. He worked with his father in a blacksmith shop here for 30 years.


     Kansas State College to honor Wayne Rogler for his distinguished services to agriculture.


     May 8 - Former Probate Judge, C. A. Blackburn, Cottonwood Falls, dies suddenly at home.


     A. J. “Tut” McCabe of Cottonwood Falls has also passed away.


     May 15 - Many residents move from valley homes. Few are flooded. No water at all in Strong City.


     May 29 - Leukemia claims the life of Jeannine Linn Lewis, daughter of Mr. & Mrs Donloe B. Lewis of Matfield Green.


     Jun 5 - Heart attack claims the life of Wilbur Mann, 40, of Cottonwood Falls.


     Bonnie Jean Conrade of Olpe and Jack Glanville, Jr. are wed.


     Jun 12 - Work going forward on the Strong City sewer project.


     Jun 19 - Chase County band concerts will be held each Thursday night at Swope Park.


     Jun 26 - The Saffordville post office will close on June 28th.


     Jul 3 - Jack Quinn sells standard station on highway 50-S in Strong City.


     Mr. & Mrs Wilbur Talkington, Matfjeld Green have a new son, named Jay Allen.


     Jul 10 - Native Chase Countain Mrs Josephine Ice Jackson, 91, of Clements has died.


     Jul 17 - Bill McGraw, Cottonwood Falls, offical scribe for local scouts gives first hand report on Jamboree held at Valley Forge.
