     Jul 17 1957 - Joan Pherigo, Cottonwood Falls and Wayne Yoakem, Cedar Point are wed.


     Ruth Ann Beine, Yates Center, and Wayne Scott Childs are wed.


     Jul 24 - Sam Bruce, 85, of Bazaar vicinity dies at his home.


     Mr. & Mrs Alfred Kohls, Lincolnville, have a new son, Alfred Wayne.


     Cliff Roberts receives his flight instructor’s rating. He has been flying during his spare time the last ten years.


     Jul 31 - Francis Towle, Chase County sheriff completes training school in Lawrence.


     Fern DeWitt and George Blount, both of Cottonwood Falls, exchange vows in a home wedding.


     Aug 7 - Spc. 3-C Wm. Parks of Saffordville was discharged at Fort Polk, La. after three years in the 13th Division of the U. S. Army.


     Harvey J. “Hod” Johnson a Matfield Green farmer dies.


     Mr. & Mrs Riley Cahoone, Cottonwood Falls are the parents of a son, James Douglas.


     Aug 14 - “Harry” Schwilling 69, a retired Chase County farmers, passed away in Topeka.


     Aug 21 - Neil Scott, 47, of Cottonwood Falls succumbs unexpectedly at home. He leaves a wife, Lorene and two sons, Larry Neil and Ronald Austin.


     The 37th annual Chase County Fair will be held next week for a 3-day run.


     4-H carnival & ice cream social at the Fair ground - Swope Park - Music by the Rhythm Merchants.


     Aug 28 - Mr. & Mrs Race Bennett of Emporia will be associated with the E. Brown & Son Furniture store and funeral home. They will be moving to Cottonwood Fall soon.


     Albert Burton is located by the Scott’s Insurance.


     Sep 4 - Myrna Wagoner & Ronald Ray Drummond, both of Strong City are wed.


     Sep 11 - Mr. & Mrs Dudley Pinkston of Cottonwood Falls are the parents of a new son, Larry Arthur.


     Strong City high’s enrollment totals 48 for the new school term.


     Sep 18 - Mrs Arthur Bledsoe, Strong City and R. D. McCallum, Matfield Green have died.


     Arlene Ann Makovec, Cottonwood Falls and Joe E. Evans are married at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church at Strong City.


     Sep 25 - Final rites for Mrs Bertha Fritze, are held.


     S. W. Pyke retires as Santa Fe Agent after 48 years of service.


     Oct 9 - Dick Wheeler well known and liked school custodian for many years is taken in death.


     A fall from a 30-foot windmill was fatal to Chase County Pioneer, John Badger of Elk.


     Ann Roniger dethrones champion in winning National AAU Penthalon.
