     Oct16 1957 - Mr. & Mrs Howard Stubenhofer of Strong City are the parents of a son, Michael Dean.


     Oct 23 - Army Reserve unit is discontinued here.


     Oct 30 - Presbyterian Church enters new era with dedication of new building.


     Doris Ann Spencer of Emporia and Lester Edward Danford of Strong City, are wed.


     Mr. & Mrs Fred Swift observe 50th wedding anniversary with all of their 10 children present.


     Nov 6 - Cottonwood Falls youth Ronald Rollins, 19, of Cottonwood Falls was killed in a one-car accident on the turnpike.


     Nov 13 - A large number of fish go into Chase County ponds.


     Nov 20 - Strong City banker and former Congressman, Dudley Doolittle, of Strong City passes away. Also, Mrs E. R. Bocook, of Matfield Green.


     Dec 4 - B. Anna Quinn well known retired teacher of Strong City dies.


     Dec 11 - Mrs. & Mrs Don Horst of Elmdale have a new son, Daniel Joseph.


     Mr. & Mrs Gilbert Mott, Cottonwood Falls have bought the Flint Hills Motel from Mr. & Mrs George Miser.


     Dec 18 - Mrs Charles 0. Yoakem, 79, of the Homestead Community died at her home. Surviving are nine children.


     Chase County Bulldogs defeat the Strong City Indians by a score of 79 - 40.


     Mr. & Mrs Darwin Reyer, of Burdick have a new son, Kim Douglas.


     Ad - Way’s Food Store - 12 oz. pkg. armour star bacon - 39cents, Chocolate bits— 12 oz. pkg. 39 cents.


     Dec 25 - Emmett Cahoone well known farmer and veteran of WWI, died at his home near Cottonwood Falls.


     Specialist Third Class Bennie C. Holtsclaw, 21, has recently been named Soldier of the Month for the U. S. Army Engineer Group at Fort Bucker of Okinawa.


     Jan 5 1958 - Miss Betty Meade will be Carl A. Ballwegs secretary.


     Marilyn Jayne Matti Cottonwood Falls and James H. Bowman of Strong City are wed.


     Jan 15 - James M. "Jim” Miller, of Elmdale, 80, a native of Chase County has died.


     Jane McCallum of Elmdale is selected as Kansas Co-Op queen.


     Jan 22 - Season’s first real blizzard blankets Chase County with a seven inch snowfall.


     Heart attack claims the life of Mrs D. M. Smith, a resident of Cottonwood Falls.


     Jan 29 - Familiar Strong City figure Lee “Hype” Carmons shot to death - neighbor George E. Varelman confesses to slaying.


     Mr. & Mrs H. L. Roberts of Strong City have a new baby boy named Robin Russell.
