     Jan 29 1958 - Aged native of Chase County, Miss Ophelia Romigh, 92, succumbs.


     Feb 5 - A proposed new grade school addition at Cottonwood Falls will be voted on in a special bond election.


     Surprise open house honors the 25th anniversary of the Frank Gaddie’s of Bazaar.


     Feb 12 - Deaths: Mrs Mollie Gamer, Strong City; Mrs Lula Snedden; and Mrs Ben Brooks of Cottonwood Falls.


     Anna Roniger is named a member of the All Womens American Track Team.


     Judith Ann Bennett, Wichita, became the bride of Albert E. Bullock of Strong City.


     Feb 19 - Charles Ireland is named as Principal of the Chase County High School.


     School bond issue is soundly defeated, nearly 2 to 1.


     The Roniger Bros. trap two large bobcats on their farm near Bazaar.


     Feb 26 - Mrs Raymond Kutz, Strong City will open her Beauty Shop in her home.


     Gary Peterson is named to CVL All Stars.


     Mar 5 - Deaths: C. A. “Allie’ Matti, Mrs Grace Harbaugh & Mrs Wm. Fillmore all of Cottonwood Falls.


     Leslie Carrier of Cottonwood Falls and Faye Pierce of Strong City have been named as candidates for Girls State.


     Girdner Crofoot is to head the Chamber of Commerce.


     Mar 12 - Al Will, 42, of Strong City, Price Ranch Foreman, seriously injured when his truck was struck by a train 4 miles east of Cottonwood Falls.


     Mar 19 - Santa Fe moves to close the depot at Cottonwood Falls.


     The work of painting all the first floor office rooms of the Chase County courthouse is being done by Wallace Rollins.


     Gordon Heathman of Bazaar, a freshman, at the College of Emporia is a candidate for the track team.


     Patty Austin, Cottonwood Falls and Bruce Wood on the honor rolls at the college of their attendence.


     Mar 26 - Mrs Katherine Howard, 98, well known Cottonwood Falls woman has passed away.


     Varelman murder trial expected to go to jury soon.


     Apr 2 - Willis Thompson, 63 of Cottonwood Falls passed away.


     A prison term is imposed by Judge Sullivan after the jury returns a verdict of second degree murder. George Estes Varelman, 64, of Strong City is to serve not less than 10 years at Lansing.


     The Cottonwood Falls Chamber will sponsor all school prom again.


     Shirley Sue Dick Cottonwood Falls and Harold Edward Steadman, Strong City are wed.


     Apr 9 - Joe Stout is best speller of Chase County. He is an eighth grader at Bazaar.


     Mr. & Mrs Robert Mushrush are the parents of a son, Joseph Roy.
