     Apr 8 1959 - Retired Santa Fe man, Orlen P. Little of Strong City taken in death. Also Mrs Henry Warner, of Cedar Point.


     Mr. & Mrs Wilbur Talkington, Matfield Green are the parents of a girl, named Debra June.


     Apr 15 - Free polio shots are discontinued.


     Sylvia Gaddie of Bazaar and Wm. H. Brethour, Maple Hill are united in marriage.


     Apr 22 - Deaths: Miss Katherine Roniger, Rock Creek; Newt Bocook, and Mrs Paul Haglund.


     Walter Blount of the Chase County Community High School won first place in the 440 yard dash at Emporia.


     The forthieth anniversary of the Elmdale Methodist Church is observed.


     Apr 29 - Tharp For Sales & Service will open soon in Cottonwood Falls.


     The 73-year old Immanuel Lutheran Church on Hiway 150 in Chase County held its last regular service Sunday.


     Choose three for annual Boy State, Keith Huth, Donnie Scott, & Larry Biggs.


     May 13 - Miss Anna E. Roniger has passed away. Surviving are Frank and George Roniger.


     Mr. & Mrs James Redick, Cottonwood Falls are the parents of a son, Jeffery Allen.


     May 20 - Paul M. Wiand electric business is sold.


     Donations and voluntary labor make possible new sign at the Chase County State lake.


     Mr. & Mrs James McGraw, Cottonwood Falls have a new daughter, Vicki Sue.


     Jun 3 - E. H. Triemer of Strong City passes away, Edward Robert also of Strong City.


     Jun 10 - Former local postmaster and business man L. E. Waddell is taken in death.


     Carol Jean Kidwell, Emporia and Franklin Wesley Buffington are united in marriage.


     The rodeo parade is one of the best ever.


     Jun 17 - Irving Myers is retiring as rural mail carrier out of Cottonwood Falls.


     Telephone rate hike proposed.


     Jun 2 - Elizabeth Jones is named County Dairy Princess.


     Jul 1 - Ernest Davis is the new County Weed Supervisor.


     Jul 8 - Dan Griest of Cottonwood Falls is killed in Montana in a head-on crash. Chris Kegebehn was found dead at his home in Cottonwood !Falls.


     Jul 15 - Ralph Holdeman has been named as local weather observer.
