     May 11 1960 - The Strong City depot will be open less hours.


     May 18 - Consolidation of High Schools to be put to a vote in all districts.


     Mary Lou Mauderly will begin teaching at Herington High School this fall. Roger LeMay at Matfield Green High School and Dean Parks at Hamilton High School.


     May 25 - Veteran Strong City doctor Dr. Jacob Hinden dies. Also Mrs J. E. Gordon and Ernest F. Matti.


     Jun 1 - Hymer school district #4 votes to disorganize.


     New Sewege disposal plant into operation.


     Jun 8 - Robert Carrier is named to grade school board.


     The Wood Brothers, Bruce and David “Boo” receive degrees from universities.


     Roy Moors resigns as the City Marshal of Cottonwood Falls.


     Mr. & Mrs Dwight Weaver of Cottonwood Falls have a new son, Steven Craig.


     Jun 15 - Brenda Lu Miller of Cottonwood Falls and Frank Filinger, Jr. of Cuba, Kansas are wed.


     Betty Rae Fillmore and Donald Ray Yoakem are also united in marriage.


     Jun 29 - Students of Mrs Charles Ireland presented a piano recital.


     Jul 13 - Joe Augustine of Strong City will head the Legion post in the coming year. Carroll Holmherg is the retiring Commander.


     Ruby’s Beauty Shop owned and operated by Ruby Spain will open soon.


     Jul 20 - G. V. “Pete” Bahr is taken in death.


     Aug 3 - Wm. E. Pherigo, Sr. 83, has passed away.


     Mr. & Mrs Leonard Bullock have purchased the Bank Hotel and Cafe at Strong City.


     Aug 10 - Sp/5 Class, Donald Adcock who was on leave following an oversea tour of duty was struck by a car while walking on Highway 13, between Strong City and Cottonwood Falls, he will be moved to the Army hospital at Ft. Leavenworth as soon as his condition permits.


     Aug 24 - Mr. & Mrs Dudley Pinkston of Cottonwood Falls are the parents of a girl, Beverly Gay.


     Wm. Eckhardt, a native of Bazaar and Geo. M. Miller of Cottonwood Falls have died.


     Sep 7 - Kieferle - Busselle will have a new store front.


     Mr. & Mrs Dean Brown, Cottonwood Falls have a new son, Mark Lee. He has an older brother Mike, 2.


     Sep 14 - J. T. Lardner buys two - block area and house at northeast edge of town for his stone cutting business.


     Sep 21 - The southwest section of Cottonwood Falls is getting much needed gravel on streets.


     Judy Kay Davis and Ronald Dale Meyer both of Strong City are wed.


     Sep 28 - Saffordville farmer and stockman Jack Buffington dies after a heart attack.
