     Apr 25 1962 - Retired jewerly store owner, Ed Brandley dies. Also R. Z. Blackburn, local rancher.


     Cedar Point and Clements High Schools voted for disorganization.


     May 2 - J. C. Morgan of Strong City files for office of sheriff on the Democratic ticket.


     New at the fair grounds at Swope Park a 28 x 80 feet post shed.


     May 9 - George Lutt, retired farmer, died at his home in Cedar Point.


     May 16 - Marcia Stout, 15 years old is all around cowgirl at the 4-H rodeo at Alma.


     Jun 6 - Attitude taken “Show must go on” and that’s what it did despite the rain at the silver anniverary of the Flint Hills Rodeo.


     Mr. & Mrs Victor Kirk hail golden wedding anniversary at Matfield Green.


     Jun 13 - Reta Riggs will teach at Florence High School this fall and Margaret Harbison will teach at the Louisburg High School.


     Patty Britain of the Bazaar school wins the SCD essay contest.


     Jun 20 - A public reception will be held to honor one of Chase County’s most well known and respected citizen and long time nurse, Miss Frances Stubenhofer of Strong City.


     Virginia Jones and Gary Peterson are united in marriage.


     Jul 4 - Gerald Robert family will he leaving this week to join troupe for a show tour in Japan.


     Mr. & Mrs Bert Bandy of Matfield Green celebrate their Golden Anniversary.


     Alfred Pierce and Lee Blount are two retiring highway department and honored at Swope Park for a basket supper.


     Jul 11 - Lillard Brown a life long Cottonwood Falls resident passed away.


     Richard Whitney is the new Strong City Legion head.


     Jul 18 - The Bechelmayr Plumbing Business in Cottonwood Falls is sold to a Emporia firm.


     Jul 25 - Mrs Had Whitney of Eimdale is named as the Democratic Womens’ Club as head.


     Aug 1 - Mrs George Lutt of Cedar Point has died.


     Aug 8 - Oscar Altemus is taken in death.


     Aug 15 - The circus is coming to Cottonwood Falls.


     Aug 22 - Young mother of five, Mrs Leslie Hanson Neff who was a native of Saffordville passes away unexpectedly.


     Aug 29 - Clyde Littler will head the Republicans and L. E. Croy the Democrats.


     Mr. & Mrs Vernon Starkey of rural Cottonwood Falls are the parents of a baby girl.


     Sep 5 - Court Campbell, 81, died at his home in Cottonwood Falls. Also John C. Patterson of Cottonwood Falls and Lewis A. Selves of the Saffordville area.


     Sep 12 - Volume three of the Chase County Historical Society is being worked on.
