     Jun 19 1963 - The post offices new zip codes go into effect on July 1st.


     Jun 26 - Carol Evan Burton and George William Hawkins are wed. Also Reta Riggs and Carl R. Cox.


     Jul 3 - Mr. & Mrs Robert Blount, Cottonwood Falls, have a new baby girl, Kimberly Kay.


     Homer L. "June" Prather dies of suffocation in his Wichita home.


     Also Mrs Hattie L. Stephenson passes away.


     Jul 17 - George E. Melson, 73, of the Pleasant Valley vicinity dies.


     Jul 24 - William Fillmore of Cottonwood Falls a resident of Chase County for 79 years was found dead near his home.


     The law office of Karl Masoner is extensively remodeled.


     Jul 31 - Lt. (J.g.) Wayne R. Rice, 26, of the Toledo community was killed in a plane crash in Hawaii.


     Aug 7 - Eighty-six pass tests in various classes in the swim program held at the Chase County State Lake.


     Mrs Harold Iliff of Strong City dies unexpectedly after suffering a stroke.


     Aug 14 - Charles Kohls, 83, Elk resident nearly 50 years, has passed away.


     Aug 21 - Deaths: Mrs Mattie Howard, A. J. Stout, and Mrs Gladys Nelson.


     Nancy Gwyn and Keith Huth are wed in Emporia church.


     Aug 28 - The post office department is seeking bids for the local post office in Cottonwood Falls.


     Sep 4 - The rains relieve some of the summer drouth.


     Sep 11 - Paul Wood was elected to head the Chase County Historical Society.


     Sep 18 - Enrollment at Strong City High totals 51 and 29 at Saffordville.


     Sep 25 - Orval F. Fillmore a native of Bazaar died at Chanute.


     June and Richard Bechelmayr rated purple ribbons on their woodworking projects at the 4-H Kansas State Fair, at Hutchinson.


     Oct 2 - Otto Triemer died last week in Council Grove.


     Sharon K. Deering and Lyle L. Scharenberg are united in marriage at the Wonsevu Christian Church.


     Oct 9 - Mrs Enos Shaft who had lived many years at Clements has passed away.


     The new lights at the athletic field at Strong City are inaugurated.


     Mr. & Mrs Harold Trayer have a baby boy, Jeffrey Alan.


     The B. B. Rufeners hail 60 years of wedded life and the Elmore Stouts hail their silver wedding anniversary.


     Oct 16 - Arch Miller has bought the 280 acre farm of Kenneth Clarks.


     Mr. & Mrs Donald Yoakem, have a new baby girl, named Elexia Rae.


     Oct 23 - Diane Davis is Strong City’s homecoming queen. This was the first homecoming for Strong City High.


     Oct 30 - A face lifting for the Claude Newlee American Legion Hall Post No. 78 in Cottonwood Falls.
