     Oct 30 1963 - Gary Huth is a first-year law student at Washburn university of Topeka.


     Nov 6 - October closes with Autumn’s first freeze.


     Nov 13 - Mrs Wm. M. Lawrence of Bazaar vicinity has died.


     Nov 27 - Mass is said in a sad farewell to president John Fritzgerald Kennedy, 35th president of the United States.


     Dec 4 - Dr. H. E. Lancaster widely known Strong citian is taken in death. Also Charles Bielman, a resident of Chase County his entire life.


     Robert Spain succeeds Vernon Scott as Master of the Masons.


     Dec 25 - Snowfall assures a white Christmas in Chase Co.


     Jan 1 1964 - Arthur Gurney 27, of Strong City accidently shot himself in the right foot while hunting rabbits.


     Jan 8 - Native of Strong City Irvin J. Rettiger dies suddenly.


     The three room home of Mrs Pearl Yeager in Bazaar was consumed by fire.


     Jan 15 - Diamond Creek watershed plan is approved nearly two to one in vote.


     Kay Scott reigns as queen of courts of the Chase County High School.


     The Middle Creek watershed has been approved.


     Jan 29 - Edmond “Ed" Kutz 55, who had been in the trucking business in Strong City before moving to his Saffordville farm dies.


     Feb 5 - Bert Brickell of Toledo dies.


     Sale of the Bank Hotel in Strong City is completed.


     Feb 12 - George Yeager is presented an award for outstanding Soil Conservation in Chase County.


     Feb 19 - Matfield Green edges Strong City 24-23 to win Chase County Girls BB tournament.


     Feb 26 - Mrs W. E. Mercer of the Homestead community is taken in death.


     David Rettiger who is an accountant with the U. S. Government will be located in Madrid, Spain for several months.


     Mar 4 - Carl S. Palmer enlists in the Navy.


     Petition for a swimming pool at Swope Park will be put before voters in a special election.


     Mr. & Mrs Harris F. Stewart of Saffordville will celebrate their 50 years together.


     Mar 11 - The Gibb Grocery and Market now Gibb’s Quik Chek , has undergone a complete remodeling on the interior and exterior.


     Mar 18 - Brenda Potter, a seventh grade student of Saffordville is the winner of the Chase County spelling bee.


     Mr. & Mrs Marvin Matti have adopted a two and one-half month old infant. He has been named Steven Kyle.


     Apr 1 - Mrs Pearl Yeager 79, a lifelong resident of Chase County has died. Surviving her are three sons, James, George, and Donald Yeager, and one daughter Mrs Katherine Jeffrey.


     Lower telephone rates went into effect on March 26th.
