     Apr 8 1964 - The new Cottonwood Falls postoffice is open for business.


     Add - Ship’ N Shore blouse $4.00 each Kieferle—Bussell — “ A Store For Women.”


     Apr 15 - Time again to “Junk the Junk.”


     The Elmo Starkey family has opened up a Roller Wheels Skate Club in the Municipal building.


     James R. Venard a barber in Cottonwood Falls is taken in death.


     Thomas Burton of Matfield Green is a graduate of an eight-weeks short course in farm management given at K-State.


     Apr 22 - Dewey H. Childs has passed away. Also John H. Steadman.


     The swimming pool issue was voted down 141 yes to 196 no.


     May 6 - Saffordville High patrons vote on disorganization for District 1.


     May 13 - The Cedar Point Bank is to observe its 50 years of community service.


     May 20 - Two new 4x8 feet signs have been erected on highway 50, for the Roniger free museum in Cottonwood Falls.


     Joseph W. Fritze, a Santa Fe Bridge Forman and resident of Strong City dies in the hospital after two major operations.


     New paint and repairs for metal roof, exterior woodwork and chimmeys and a new flag pole have been made and erected at the courthouse.


     Improvements at the athletic field in Swope Park is accomplished.


     May 27 - Mrs P. D. Gibson is taken in death.


     Red cross swimming lessons will be given at the new Cedar Point pool this summer.


     Tom Jones wins second place in the high jump at the Kansas State Teachers College.


     Jun 3 - Marcia Stout and Sue Roberts are local queen contestants for the 27th annual Flint Hills Rodeo.


     Chase Countians approve unification plan by two to one vote.


     Highway K-13 is no more. Now it is K-l77.


     Jun 17 - Three file for County Clerk, J. T. Overstreet, and Darwin Reyer, Democrats, and Floyd Eidman, Republican.


     Bernard J. McCabe son of J. B. and Verna McCabe has passed away.


     Jun 24 - Francis Towle, Republican incumbent, will be opposed in the General election by Charles Armagost for Chase County Sheriff.


     Jul 1 - Jesse E. Bailey a well known Matfield Green resident is taken in death.


     Jul 8 - Delbert Eshbaugh resigns as Mayor of Cottonwood Falls. Gerald Dieker fills his unexpired term.


     C. W.”Shorty” Beardmore of Strong City dies in the hospital.


     Lester Cooper is the new custodian at the courthouse. He replaces Eugene Reehling who has retired.


     Virginia Park and Ronald Slaybaugh are wed.


     Jul 22 - Fumes from a well are fatal to Wayne Lacer 23 at the Lacer farm near Emporia.


     Also Mrs John Bechelmayr a pioneer of Chase Co. passes away.
