     Jul 29 1964 - Ray Gordon of Strong City retires as rural mail carrier after more than 40 years of Federal Service.


     Aug 5 - Mrs Lee McCabe, 72, of Elmdale has passed away.


     Miss Linda Schroer completes degree for nurses training.


     Aug 12 - organize to promote parkway. Proposed route would go through the heart of the Flint Hills.


     Marcia Zimmerman and Gary Jay Scott are wed. Their home will be in Cottonwood Falls.


     Aug 19 - Mrs Ella Stanbrough, 87, of Cottonwood Falls has passed away. Also Mr. A. C. Spain of Strong City.


     Ray Wilson, local employee with the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, celebrates his 40-years with the company.


     Sep 2 - Granville Badger, 90, a resident of Chase County nearly all his life since the early 1890’s has died.


     Newly organized Consolidated Grade Schools of Toledo and Saffordville off to a good start with 61 pupils.


     Sep 9 - Edwin Giger has been appointed as Clerk of the Elmdale Rural High School Board of Education.


     An aerial spray for mosquitoes will be done in the twin cities.


     Sep 16 - The death of M. M. “Dutch” Cooper resident of Chase County follows that of his wife by only 17 days.


     W. J. “Wally” Evans is featured as Man of the Week in the Emporia Gazette.


     Infant son of Mr. & Mrs James McGraw is stillborn. He was born on his Grandfathers birthday, Sept. 14th and named James Doyle.


     Sep 23 - Formal opening of the Wagon Wheel room in the Bank Hotel is open.


     Sep 30 - Chase County Community High School has a new football scoreboard.


     Oct 7 - S. J. Cahoone died at his home on South Fork. Surviving him are his wife, three sons and three daughters.


     Oct 14 - Mrs Maude Breese born at Elmdale and lived there all her 88 years has died.


     The contract for the first Silver Creek dam is let.


     Will E. (Barlow) Mercer is having a public farm sale as he is moving to Cottonwood Falls.


     Oct 21 - Clyde Littler well known stockman and former Legislator is taken in death.


     Jimmy Barr of Burdick has bought the 250 acre Walter Phillips farm on Buck Creek.


     Oct 28 - The Mill Stream Motel will be sold by auction.


     Nov 25 - John Scott Gibb earns his eagle award in scouting. This is the highest attainable in Boy Scout work.


     The telephone business office will be closing on Dec. 4th.


     Dec 2 - Mrs Ruth Jeffrey of Cottonwood Falls has retired after 20 years with Southwestern Bell Tel. Co.
