     Mar 24 1965 - The Fred Paytons to observe their golden wedding anniversary.


     Mar 31 - Deaths: Mrs Carl Palmer, of Strong City, Mrs Frank Deering, of Homestead and Mrs Edna Gilbert, of Cottonwood Falls.


     Mar 31 - "Pioneer campgrounds,” a commerical campsite west of Strong City to open to the public about May 1st.


     Apr 7 - Ground breaking ceremonies for a new industry here, The Valley Foods Company owned by Mr. & Mrs Henry Schoap, Jr. were held.


     W. Boyd Finuf has resigned his position as Assistant Cashier and bookkeeper from the Strong City Bank.


     Apr 14 - Ron Mayo is the new football and track coach and will teach some classes at the Chase County Community High School next fall.


     Deaths: A prominent local man succumbs, Wm. F. Kieferle, Tom North of Saffordville and Frank E. “Whitt” Byram, of Clements.


     Gerald Dieker is elected as Mayor of Cottonwood Falls; Lee Sampson of Strong City; Glenn Baumgardner, of Elmdale; Myron Jackson, of Matfield Green; and Ted Yoakem, of Cedar Point.


     Apr 21 - Caravan tours Kansas segment of proposed Prairie Parkway. High level support assured.


     Brief illness claims the life of Strong Citian, Clarence (Morg) Hensley.


     Apr 28 - Five Chase County Community High School students received medal in the relays held at the Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia and are: Lyle McKee, Jim Iliff, Jerry Gonzales, Roger Potter and. Bill Cleaver.


     Lu Gibb and Jane Davis have been selected to attend Girls State in June. Joe Pherigo, a senior at CCCHS was one of a select group of 132 boys from Kansas who received the State Farmer award.


     Mrs Ruth Bell, home economics teacher at Elmdale Rural High School for 25 years is retiring at the end of the current year.


     May 12 - Mr. & Mrs Carvel Oldham are the parents of a son, Thomas Curtis, and Mr. & Mrs Harvey Starks have a new son, Louis Bradley.


     D. J. Matile is all-around cowboy at the Alma-H rodeo.


     Charles Davis Sr. farmer and rancher of Elmdale has passed away.


     May 19 - Paul Bledsoe and Donnie Ingalls have been chosen to attend Boys State in June.


     May 26 - Alice Kay Starks and Harold L. Miller, Jr. are united in marriage.


     Jun 2 - 45 girls are taking part in an annual scouting day camp on Spring Creek.


     Jun 9 - Officials term rodeo a success despite downpours and flooding.


     Mrs S. R. Stauffer is taken in death.


     The Dan Eastmans will observe their golden wedding anniversary.


     Jun 16 - The Exchange National Bank is getting a face lift for the exterior as well as complete remodeling of the interior.


     The county road damage is heavy due to the recent flood.


     Jun 23 - Mrs Theresa Myers, 82, of Strong City has passed away.


     A beautiful June wedding was held, with Amy Lou Gaddie and Paul Dean Stephenson being united at the Cottonwood Falls Methodist Church.
