Dec 22 1965 - Wm. E. “Steve” Evans has received an appointment as a rural carrier, out of the Strong City postoffice starting Jan. 15, 1966.
Ready—mix concrete plant located west of the Mill stream Motel is started by Ted and Gary Scott.
A native stone front and double glass doors will be put up for the Jim Bell & Son Clothing Store.
Mr. & Mrs Arthur L. Deering will observe their golden anniversary.
Dec 29 - There has been a derailment on the main Santa Fe freight line at Gladstone.
Lester A. Stout, farmer and stockman dies unexpectedly.
A beautiful white Christmas is predicated for the Chase area.
The first issue of Strong City newspaper is out and called “The Chase County Reporter”.
Jan 5 1966 - Mr. & Mrs Russell Schwilling have a new baby son, Jeffrey Randal.
Jan 12 - Matfield Green High School patrons voted yes to maintain its school.
Ernest Jackson of Strong City has passed away.
Kipling “Kip” Wells of Elmdale retires as the rural carrier out of the
Elmdale postoffice for nearly 46 years. Wm. T. “Bill” Pretzer replaces
Mr. Wells.
Jan 19 - Arthur Palmer was made a partner in a law firm at Topeka.
Jan 26 - Wm. E. McCabe, 95, a retired farmer, who lived for many years in the Bazaar community died at the home of his niece Mrs Harry Vestring.
Pay raises for county officers.
Feb 2 - Mrs Ida E. Vinson is nominated for the Master Teacher Award by local Association.
Mr. & Mrs Charles Schwilling of Bazaar will observe their 25 years together.
Feb 9 - The USD-284 board moves for one high school.
Wm. R. Watchous, 82, of Cottonwood Falls died at his home and Miss Sarah Jane McCabe who was 96 passes away.
Carl Nurnberg of Saffordville again heads the Soil Conservation District of Chase County.
Feb 16 - Residents in south Cottonwood Falls will have their sewer.
Claudia Joan Dawson and Karl Lynn Masoner are wed.
Feb 23 - Mrs Levi Jones observed her 99th birthday with members of her family.
Mar 2 - Mrs Roberts Heathman, encumbent for Register of Deeds is seeking a fourth term in office.
Everett Fessler, resigns as Chase County Engineer after 10 years. Cecil Wilson is being transferred to Lyons in Rice County as manager of
the Rice County ASCS.
Mar 9 - Mrs Charles Klotz passed away.
