     Mar 23 1956 - Postal services will be increased.


     Mar 30 - Clyde Hancock of the Toledo vicinity passes away.


     Apr 6 - Mrs Victor Kirk, Matfield Green who had lived in Chase County nearly all her life has died.


     Apr 20 - Frank A. Roniger a prominent Bazaar rancher and one of the donors of the Roniger Museum is taken in death.


     Howard Wood is selected as the ASC office manager.


     Gene Linsea breaks the Chase County High School javelin record.


     Apr 27 - Well Known resident Mrs James Bell, Sr. dies,


     Also Mrs J. 0. Wilson, dies at the age of 89.


     Opening date for the new Cottonwood Falls swimming pool is May 28th.


     May 4 - A new steel building will be erected at the B. R. “Bus” Yoakem property. Mr. Yoakem, a mechanic for many years is now assisted by his son, Donald R. Yoakem.


     May 11 - A resident here of many years dies, Mrs Louis A. Fink, also George Buffon.


     May 25 - A free barbecue will lauch the annual Flint Hills Rodeo.


     Deaths: Charles Webster, Mrs Ray Patton, and Roy A. Moore.


     Jun 1 - A new business in Strong City is the Flint Hills Truck Stop and Restaurant north of Highway 50.


     Jun 8 - Jet fighter crashes in Chase County, killing the pilot. The crash was on Mrs Asa Pendergrafts farm east of Strong City.


     Dr. Leo McKee is the new Mayor of Cottonwood Falls after the resignation of Gerald Dieker.


     Bessie Spain is elected BPW fourth district director.


     Jun 22 - Ralph Donelson of Saffordville is taken in death. Ralph was a farmer and stockman.


     Douglas Gibb and Alice Park are top ranking students at Elmdale High.


     Jun 28 - The Ralph Holderman’s have purchased the Cowley-Haskell apartments in Cottonwood Falls.


     Jul 13 - B. B. Andrews, 75, a retired farmer and rancher of the Cottonwood Falls area is taken in death.


     As a precaution Cottonwood Falls citizens are asks to watch their water usage.


     The Henry Roglers, are wed 65 years, and a family observance will be held.


     Aug 3 - Donloe B. Lewis of Matfield Green is found dead of a gunshot wound.


     Aug 10 - Births: Mrs. & Mrs Keith Hynson, are the parents of a daughter, Tracey Lynn; and Mr. & Mrs Roger Kohls, rural Elmdale, a son, Roger Willis Jr.


     Silver creek watershed in Chase County is the sixth completed in the state.


     Aug 17 - Nettie Mann and Joseph Pherigo are wed in the Methodist Church.


     Aug 24 - A new, modern facility to provide recreations opportunities for Chase County teens was opened at Strong City. Clifford Roberts, spearheaded the project.
