     The 8 year old daughter of Geo. Betty, on the old Harris farm near Elmdale, fell into an open well, forty feet deep, without being seriously injured.

     Wm. Teat is acting city marshal, during the absence of Thorn Brandley.

     Marriage of, Henry W. Rogler, Matfield & Maude A. Sauble of Cedar Point, at the residence of Susan Sauble, with Judge McDonald officating with dignity. The honeymoon will be in Colorado Springs, Manitou and other pleasure resorts of the mountains.

     August 1, 1901 -- Born, to Mr. & Mrs Cliff Blackburn, Bazaar, a son, Mr. & Mrs Jas. McGee,this city, a daughter.

     J. S. Tipton, an old resident of the east end of the county, died.

     Geo. Seiker was stricken with a hemmorage of the bladder, and is in precarious condition. Little hope is entertained of his recovery.

     A. H. Upton, Trustee of Diamond creek township has tendered his resignation to the County Commissioners and will move to Calif.

     Lon Townsend of Topeka and Miss Vay Johnson, of Cottonwood were married in KC.

     Permit issued to J. L. Crochran, druggist, to sell intoxicants for medicinal, mechanical and scientific purposes, for 1 year.

     August 8, 1901 -- Wm. Judd & Geo. Leonard got back from new land last week. Mr. Leonard is making preparations to move his family on his new claim in the near future.

     A new steel ceiling is being put on the northwest room upstairs, in the high school building.

     C. A. Carter has purchased the drug store of J. L. Cochran, and will move his stock to the building occupied by Mr. Cochran, where the two bill be consol- idated.

     B. F. Martin who was employed as assistant principle of the Cottonwood Falls high school, for the coming year, has decided to study law, and according tendered his resignation. Alvan W. Ault will take his place.

     Mrs Micheal Stubenhofer died at the age of 74 at the home of her daughter, Mrs C. M. Baldwin. Theresa Dubblinger was born in Falkenstein Bayern, Germany, journed to America with her husband after their marriage in 1849.
