     Aug 31 1966 - Matfield Green resident Carl Nichols is taken in death.


     Mrs Effie Fillmore is honored on her 90th birthday.


     Sep 7 - Crofoot Cattle Company is expanding ownership and operation to Texas.


     Deaths: Glen Miller, Mrs Carl O’Daniel, Harvey Shumate and Kenneth Tefft.


     Scout hall is being given a face lifting.


     Sep 14 - Mrs Wm. Pretzer P.M. is hired as health nurse by USD-284.


     Carole Fillmore and Paul Franklin are wed.


     Sep 21 - The John McCabe’s are honored on their 25th wedding anniversary.


     Sep 28 - Native of Chase County Earl V. Harlan is taken in death.


     Oct 5 - The Peoples Exchange Bank has completed 75 years of service in the Elmdale community.


     Deaths: Paul C. Golden, and Jake Thompson.


     September was a mild month.


     Oct 12 - The Cottonwood Falls city council give the “go ahead” on the sewer lines in the south part of town.


     Bruce Wood has accepted a job for the next two years in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, in his work with the Geophysical Service.


     Oct 19 - Mr. & Mrs Dennis Maddox, rural Marion, are the parents of a son, John Justin.


     Oct 26 - Chase County Soil Survey covering a eight year period is now complete.


     Nov 2 - Deaths: W. J. “Bill” Thompson, B. J. Barrett, Glenn Bucher, and Mrs Frank Byers.


     Nov 9 - The 100th anniversary of the Methodist church at Elmdale will soon be observed.


     Nov 23 - Deaths: Roy B. Grubbs, Mrs George E. Dawson.


     A move to close the Cedar Point depot hearing on 12-13.


     Nov 30 - The opening of the Uptown Theatre in Strong City is the 10th of Dec. Bill Yeager & Lyle McKee are the co - owners and managers.


     Dec 7 - A fire started in the cupola of the historic landmark Chase County courthouse. It was confined mainly to the cupola area.


     John Pretzer is the new Unified Board Member and Edgar Cooper is President.


     Dec 21 - Deaths: John F. Oxford and Wayne J. Keller.


     Jan 11 1967 - The third volume of the Chase County Historical Sketches have arrived and are now on sale for $6.00 each.


     Jan 18 - Wm. A. Potter has passed away.


     The Matfield Green postoffice was established a 100 years ago.


     Deaths: Carl C. Beedle, Guy H. Darner, and Fritz Benninghoven.


     Feb 8 - Move toward finalizing plans for vote on new high school building.


     Marian Margaret Purvis and Charles Thomas Jones are wed. Also Terri Lee Roberts and Leonard J. McKee.
