     May 15 1968 - Near centenarian Fred G. Slier, 95, a Cottonwood Falls resident for many years is taken in death. Also Mrs Ephraim Pinkston of Cedar Point has passed away.

     Dinner party honor Mrs Thelma Carrier for her 25 years with the Strong City Bank.

     May 22 - Strong City graduates 16, and Cottonwood Falls, 34.

     Earl S. Pierce and Harry Pritchett have passed away.

     Mr. & Mrs Jack Davis managers for the Cottonwood Falls Hotel have retired and Mr. & Mrs Glen Burton will be the new managers. Mr. & Mrs Jay Lammon own the building.

     Jun 5 - A car-train crash took the life of Celia Stephenson, 19, daughter of Mr. & Mrs T. G. Stephenson, Jr. of rural Elmdaie.

     Jun 12 - Miss Grace Campbell a county pioneer dies. Miss Grace taught school in Chase County for 15 years, her first term being at the Ice school. She was postmaster at Elmdale and ran the store at Elk for seven years.

     Jun 19 - Pastures in the Flint Hills area providing excellent cattle grazing.

     Rev. Robert B. Craig was recently appointed to serve as minister of the United Methodist churches in Cottonwood Falls and SaffordVille.

     Jun 26 - Rainfall halts wheat harvest in Chase County.

     The largest group ever attends alumni event of Chase County High School.

     Mary Yeager and Lyle McKee are wed at the St. Anthony’s church in Strong City.

     Jul 3 - The Longhorn Family Center is a new business opening in Cottonwood Falls by Mr. & Mrs Jerry Blankenship.

     Sharon Rogers and Steven Griffin are wed. Also Joyce Giger and Robert Whitehead.

     Jul 10 - Mr. & Mrs Thomas Jones of Cottonwood Falls are the parents of a daughter, Rebecca Ann.

     Jul 17 - Filming of “The Gypsy Moths” by Metro-GoldWyn-Mayer’s moves into Cottonwood Falls.

     Jul 31 - Dance at Ken’s Place - Music by Chuck Watkins and his Midwestern Playboys.

     Aug 7 - The Leader-News has a new regal linotype face.

     Aug 14 - George Rettiger, 32, a lifelong resident of Strong City has died after a 20 - month illness. He was a veteran of WW II.

     The Cottonwood Falls Pee Wees won the second place trophy in the league tournament at Hillsboro.

     Deaths: Oliver Nicholas and Mrs Lewis Pracht.

     Sep 4 - Weddings; Karen Kay Starkey and Terry Jay Crofoot and Janice Kay Giger and Larry G. Hensley, Betty Lou Ramsey and Jerry Drummond.

     Sep 18 - Retirement and Nursing Center is planned for Chase County.

     A movement to restore the Lower Fox Creek School on Highway 177 is making progress.

     Sep 25 - Strong City wins football opener.
