     1968 - 1969


     Oct 2 1968 - The tree lined walkway at the entrance to the Chase County High School, is no more. All the trees have been removed.


     Hubert Hovey is the new scoutmaster of Troop 155.


     Oct 9 - Sidney T. Symes is taken in death.


     Farm sale of C. E. and Eva Hepler of Cedar Point.


     Oct 16 - Hike in postal rates.


     Mr. & Mrs B. B. Rufener who have lived on their farm west of Cottonwood Falls, since 1913, observed their 65th. wedding anniversery.


     Oct 23 - A big “yes" vote to sell tract for a nursing center.


     Oct 30 - Mrs Howard (Iladean) Stubenhofer was named cashier of the Strong City State Bank.


     The Ralph Reyers lifelong residents of Chase County to hail golden anniversery.


     Nov 13 - Crash claims life of Arch Miller. The Santa Fe westbound passenger train No. 23 hit Mr. Miller’s El Camino which had stalled on the tracks.


     Mrs Ernest Carpenter has passed away.


     Vicky Lea Koger and Kenneth Carl Dawson are wed.


     A public farm sale will be held at the farm of Mr. & Mrs Fred Swenson’s.


     Nov 27 - Deaths: Levi Pinkston, Earl V. Cleeton.


     Cottonwood Falls has a new city fire truck.


     Complete modernization at the Strong City postoffice is completed.


     Dec 11 - Clint Baldwin, 79, is taken in death. Mr. Baldwin taught school and served as Chase County Superintendent of Schools from 1921 until 1925. He was a veteran of WW I.


     Dec 18 - Deaths: Adrian Bocook and Mrs Daisy Bocook.


     Lee Blount, 79, brought down a 7- point, 165 lb. buck deer while hunting with his son, Walter in the Hymer vicinity.


     Marcia Lurene Stout & Wayne Roy Bailey are wed.


     Jan 2 1969 - Garrett Pretzer has been wounded while on patrol duty west of Saigon. He is in a U. S. Army Hospital in Japan.


     Jan 9 - Deaths: Carroll F. Holmberg, Mrs. L. E. Waddell, Mrs John Oxford, Mrs Lizzie Harman.


     The Christmas ball held at the Municipal building was a fine success.


     The 50 bed skilled nursing center is now under construction.


     Jan 16 - Deaths: Dr. M. W. Woodhull, 90, a physician in Cottonwood Falls for 30 years, and Dewey Steadman of Cottonwood Falls.


     Veteran banker Frank L. (Pete) Grimwood Vice—President and Cashier of the Exchange National Bank, has retired.


     Jan 23 - Miss Sally Lydick & Mr. Willis Olson are wed.


     Jan 30 - Banks of Chase County show assets of nearly 10 1/2 million.


     Wide area storm presents hazards.


     Mrs Ronald Scott dies of a liver ailment in the Medical Center in Kansas City, Ks.
