Feb 13 1969 - Mr. & Mrs Vernon Scott of Cottonwood Falls are the new owners of the Bluestem Elevator.
Locker plant owner, Harry Buffington of Cottonwood Falls is taken in death.
Feb 27 - Edwin Giger receives the 1968 Chase County Soil Conservation Bankers Award.
Charles L. Ireland has been nominated for the Kansas Master Teachers Award.
The Chase County Courtroom has been redecorated.
Mar 6 - Dismal weather marks February.
Strong City’s basketball team wins the Regional opener with Carbondale.
Deaths: Mrs Ruth Conner and Walter Granger.
Mar 20 - Vain search is made for Elmdale rancher, Prentice B. Thurston.
Mar 27 - The body of Prentice B. Thurston, 42, of Elmdale, was discovered in the barn at his farm home on Middle Creek. His death was ruled a sucide by hanging.
Apr 3 - Jay O’Daniel wins the county spelling contest.
Deaths: Arthur A. Bledsoe and Henry H. Giese.
Apr 10 - Deaths: A. R. "Bert” Bandy, former County Engineer, Edwin L. Gilbert, of Cottonwood Falls and Miss Phoebe Fagg, of Matfield Green.
The water tower in Cottonwood Falls is to be repaired.
The new Phillips 66 station at the north end of Broadway, a new business, The Pinkston Oil Co., managed by Hugh “Cobby” Pinkston, moved into its new quarters.
Apr 17 - Mr. & Mrs Donald Scott buy the Buffington Locker Plant in Cottonwood Falls.
A trap shoot will be held at the Buck Creek Gun Club, 2 miles south of Cottonwood Falls, on K-l77.
Apr 24 - The sheriff is to get a new police car.
The golden wedding anniversary of the John Scribners is hailed with open house.
May 1 - Weekend deluges cause streams & river to spill out of their banks.
May 8 - Deaths: Ralph S. Cahoone, James 0. Pierce and Roy L. Moore.
New city dads take over reins. Newly elected Mayor, Carvel Oldham and the new slate of council members are; Tom Bell, President; Vincent Ochs, Don Evans, Harold Trayer, and Jim Stubenhofer.

May 22 - Gerald Dieker, Stantard bulk agent and owner of Dieker’s Standard Service on Highway 50 in Strong City, has purchased the service station at the corner of Broadway & Pearl from Farm Industries
John Johnson, Administrator announces this week that key employees have been hired at the Chase County Nursing Center which is to open in June.
May 29 - Bill Meirowsky has retired from the Strong City Gas Co. after 32 years of service.
