     1969 - 1970


     Sep 18 1969 - A squad of 20 atheletes make up the football roster at Strong City High School.


     Mr. & Mrs John W. Sidler of Strong City will observe their 50th wedding anniversary as will Mr. & Mrs J. Gonzales.


     Oct 2 - Untimely death of Roland Turner, aged 36. Surviving him are his wife and three children.


     Oct 9 - A one carl accident fatal to Richard E. ‘Butch” Gibb.


     Oct 30 - Centennial of local Masonic Lodge is observed with a dinner & program.


     Nov 6 - Farm census will be taken by mail.


     Shirley Jean Scott & Marion Lee “Hop” Fillmore are wed in the First United Methodist Church at Cottonwood Falls.


     Nov 13 - Eight recipients receive 25 year pins to 0.E.S. members.


     Nov 20 - Mrs E. B. (Sadie)Whitney is taken in death as is Mrs Guy Shaw.


     The Chase County Bulldogs win final football game from Hope 50-20.


     Marine PFC Wesley N. Sidener, 21 year old son of Mr. & Mrs Lee Sidener, died in action in Vietnam.


     Major (ret) Paul H. Cartter dies in hospital, also a native of Toledo, Elmer Flickinger.


     Dec 4 - Chase County Pioneer, Mrs Nate Russell is taken in death.


     Dec 11 - Open house held at Ochs Flowers.


     Deaths: Dan W. Eastman, Mrs Glenn Mott.


     Fire destroyed the rural home of Mr. & Mrs Cecil Yoakem west of Wonsevu.


     Dec 25 - Damaging fire at the Crofoot Feedlots elevator west of Strong City.


     The Strong City State Bank is sold to Dwight Rymer and Rex R. Denham.


     Deer taken in Chase County during December firearms season totaled 32.


     Jan 1 1970 - Chase County again leads Kansas in volume of grain fed cattle.


     Four-year drivers license plan will begin Jan. 1st.


     Jan 8 - Deaths: Edward Maddox, George Drummond, Ida Rosie Stubenhofer, Kenneth Spitler, Mrs Al Ryan, Mrs Thelma Rollins and Guy A LaLoge.


     Jan 22 - Walter Blount has been appointed as Scoutmaster of Troop 255.


     Jan 29 - S/Sgt. Kenneth C. Dawson has been wounded in Vietnam.


     Deaths: Thomas 0. Mercer & Mrs Thomas Lyles.


     Feb 5 - Pioneer resident, Miss Blanche Cress, 94, of Cedar Point is taken in death.


     Additions have been completed at Ken’s Place, a dance pavillion east of Strong City.


     January was dry and cold.


     Feb 19 - The public is invited to an open house at the Chase County High School.


     Deaths: Walter Deering, Mrs Martin Wittker and Charles H. Albin.


     Feb 26 - Deaths: David Seeney & Mrs Wm. Meirowsky.
