     Feb 26 1970 - Mr. & Mrs Francis F. Bray, lifetime residents of Chase Co. will be honored on their 50th. wedding anniversary.


     Jane Louise Davis became the bride of Ronal Austin Scott.


     Mar 12 - Sgt. Kenneth Dawson is the recipient of the Air Medal, later the Bronze Star medal.


     Mr. & Mrs Leo ‘Turk” Johnson of Matfield Green will observe their 50th. wedding anniversary.


     Mar 26 - Deaths: Donald Horst, and Ellsworth Riggs.


     4—2- Paul Scharenberg is chairman of SCD.


     Mason Blackmore is new chamber head.


     Mr. & Mrs Gus Carpenter of Cedar Point, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary as will Mr. & Mrs Fred Howard of Strong City.


     Apr 9 - Adrian Lawrence passes away. He had served in the Army in WWI. Surviving him are his wife, Gertrude and one son, Donald E. Lawrence.


     Patty Finuf is the county winner of the spelling contest.


     Miss Beatrice Hays, elderly local resident, has passed away.


     Apr 16 - The women of the United Presbyterian Church are again sponsoring four pre-kindergarten sessions.


     Apr 23 - Mrs W. W. Austin, 95 of Cottonwood Falls is taken in death.


     Camp Wood begins 55th year.


     There will be a parachute jump at the Cottonwood Falls airport for two days. Airport Admission 50 cents per person.


     May 7 - Graveside rites are held at Elmdale for Miss Grace Umberger formerly of the Hymer community. She had served as a nurse during WW I.


     Chase County High girl tracksters placed first in the seven-school meet.


     May 14 - Mrs John B. (Zoe) Glanville a county pioneer has passed away.


     Jerry Pittman will manage the Cottonwood Falls swimming pool for the upcoming season.


     May 21 - Chase County High honor students are: twins, Mary Bender, Valedictorian, and Marla Bender, Salutatorian.


     May 28 - Dana L. Crawford of Cottonwood Falls passed away.


     Records fall at the annual grade school play day.


     Jun 4 - Mrs Finley (Anne) Lambert is retiring from teaching. Mrs Lambert has completed 30 years of public service as first grade teacher at Cottonwood Falls and has had six other years of teaching at Madison & Matfield Green.


     Ten are entered in the Miss Rodeo Queen contest.


     Jun 11 - Edna Mae Park & Donnie Ray Ingalls are wed at Elmdale.


     Jun 18 - Noble George, who was a building contractor and resident of the Elmdale community for 45 years has died.


     Jun 25 - Kay Ellen Laughridge received her diploma and pin from the Stormont-Vail School of Nursing.


     Ted Scott files for County Commissioner.
